New video every 8 hours on ARMdevices.net, forever

Posted by – August 10, 2013
Category: Opinions

Stepping up quality, production value, range and reach of the original videos and articles to be posted on ARMdevices.net. Starting now, there will be a new video posted on ARMdevices.net every 8 hours, forever. Posting times will be around 4am, 12pm and 8pm Central European Time (6am/2pm/10pm EST, 3am/12pm/7pm PST). Check back regularly!

This means I have to film 1095 new videos each year to keep up with the rate of 3 new videos per day. I’ll try.

Not all videos are as cool, I’d like to move important higher quality videos to the front of the queue as much as possible. So don’t worry I won’t delay publishing important videos too much.

To post that many new original videos on ARMdevices.net this regularly, I have now hired 2 new bloggers to help me write all the titles, descriptions to all the videos so that I can focus on filming and uploading the videos and they take care of writing the text for each video.

Here are the new writers on ARMdevices.net:

M@ddy

maddy

From Hyderabad Tech city in India. Mobile enthusiast and freelance tech writer.

juliusaugustus

juliusaugustus

18-year old student from California. He’s been following ARMdevices.net for years and now he’ll be helping post more videos here more regularly.

Kevin Sadria

Student, also contributing some content.

And this site can further be expanded to include more bloggers, perhaps even more video-bloggers, the plan is for ARMdevices.net to be bigger and better than Engadget, TheVerge and all the sites on Techmeme combined within months, candidates can apply here charbax@gmail.com

To pay for the bloggers (who I have to pay), to pay for my video-blogging travels, to pay for eventual new equipment, to pay for scoops and stolen iphones, you are welcome, if you want, to donate any amount that you’d like for each new video that is being published here on ARMdevices.net if you pledge a per-view amount at http://www.patreon.com/charbax. For example you can choose to donate $0.10 per video, you can set a donations limit if you’re worried that I may post too many videos. But you can also donate more than $0.10 per video, any amount is cool, thanks a lot! (patreon takes 8% of donations as their fee, but I don’t know of any cheaper alternative to that yet)

Allwinner E200 Powered Gajah InkCase E Ink phablet case to be $99- $129

Posted by – August 3, 2013

Gajah International design house shows a unique Allwinner E200 powered E Ink Bluetooth case for you Galaxy Note 2 smartphone/phablet. “InkCase” works like a second casing or another panel for your gadget, On the back side of the casing you find E Ink panel serves as second panel to display photographs, you can read e-book, see the pop-up’s of Facebook and Twitter too. You can have eye on weather apps from your phone and all viewable apps you can see through this second panel. It works on Bluetooth connectivity has micro USB port for charging InkCase. Inside it has memory to facilitate switch over to next picture/page and to do this back panel has two keys.Price yet to be finalised may expect between $99-$129 You can have look here in this video of InkCase for Samsung S2. InkCase is also available for iPhones but works only as photo viewer, . Two colour variants Black & White are available.

The problem is the way this one works is to beam pictures that it has to transmit, decode, instead of sending data to interpret and integrate in clever apps on the E Ink case device. That makes for slowish e-reader mode for now. But maybe they can improve this in software and other device like it a bit better integrated and much thinner and lighter could be huge advancement for changing the back-cover on your smartphone that has removable back-cover or for adding a back-casing to your smartphone and phablet to use the back surface of your devices for new smart potentially ultra-low power E Ink functionality.

Ubuntu on phone, tablets, latest demos

Posted by – July 29, 2013

Here’s Ubuntu OS for phones built on Android BSP (Board Support Package). They can bring on various phone devices in very short time. Ubuntu OS makes playing videos easier. Ubuntu User interface is very sleek. Through Preview window you can see the videos while playing games or working on any other app. Ubuntu OS runs on different engine no need of engines like JAVA, Dolby. Ubuntu applications written by CUTE support HTML5. It’s different software architecture. Ubuntu provides complete ecosystem also provides SDK system for developers they can use CUTE create their own apps. So that Simple app can run both PC and Phone. Ubuntu OS runs on high end phones, require powerful CPU capable to run both Android and Ubuntu OS at the same time. To do this optimization required of phone feature complete like you can write SMS from desktop in all languages. Users don’t need to have other laptop or PC to communicate between Android and Ubuntu. It’s an Unique experience run Both OS on One Phone. For now Android apps can’t run on Ubuntu. It is possible only after optimzing aspects like graphics. Android apps for Touch. but running CUTE apps is different thing. They can easily Ubantu open source can be write on Android code.there is lot of room for optimization like display performance VD development finally putting them together is easy concept. Ubuntu lowered the basic effort to put Ubuntu on Android. BSP drivers are almost same so effort for OEM is easier to adapt Ubuntu on their hardware. Last year Ubuntu was on OMAP4. Now on qualcomm S4. Wrote with “Ubuntu control app”. User can control Ubuntu session by phone only. If click on shut down Ubuntu control app the phone still can work on Android.

To run Ubuntu 1GB RAM. 1.5Ghz Dualcore CPU are minimum requirements. Aiming to different market segment.
People who think that Android is not sufficient they can turn on Ubuntu. Android is designed for small phones where as Ubuntu they design for large screens. Legacy of Linux is for big screens and multitasking. The main focus is running Ubuntu on multiple device like phone, tablet, TV and many more.

ARM Processors to Run at 3GHz by next year

Posted by – July 27, 2013
Category: GlobalFoundries, TSMC

ARM based processor manufacturers Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and GlobalFoundries  have announced that they plan to release ARM processors capable of running at 3 GHz “sometime next year”.

A new report cites that the game doesn’t end here. Processors clocked as high as 3 GHz are headed our way in 2014. Performance is not all about clock speeds, but if the current 28nm manufactured processors are able to clock in at 2.3 GHz, a process shrink to 20nm, expected to happen early in 2014, will certainly help increase clock speeds while consuming lesser power and die size at the same time.

The new 20nm node at TSMC and GlobalFoundries is expected to offer a 25% decrease in power consumption, allow up to 30% faster clock speeds and up to 1.9 times better transistor density with low leakage. That means more transistors in a lesser die, leading to more powerful processors.

These new products will bring the whole variety of technology devices to the Next Level but it depends on the user if device processor is a key consideration for them.

MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor announced

Posted by – July 27, 2013

MediaTek MT6592 is announced, as far as I understand it’s 8-cores of ARM Cortex-A7 with ARM Mali graphics?

‪中文(繁體)‬: 位於台灣台北市內湖區內湖路一段91巷「太陽科技廣場」C棟的聯發科技台...

So this MediaTek MT6592 does not use big.LITTLE combining ARM Cortex-A15 and A7 but only uses 8 ARM Cortex-A7 cores?

Basically, the MT6592 and the MT6588 will be the new high-end offers, the MT6589 becomes the new mid-end and the MT6582 and MT6572 will be the company’s low-end chips.
Just as its predecessors The MediaTek MTK MT6592  is built on ARM A7 architecture and can be clocked from 1.7 to 2.0 GHz. This  pure 8 core processor chipset supports full HD recording and playback.
According to some leaked benchmarks this MT6592 SoC supposedly performs quite fast?

This may be MediaTek’s processor for Android 5.0 to be released.

A document by MediaTek on this announcement is available here: http://www.mediatek.com/_en/Event/201307_TrueOctaCore/MediaTekTrueOcta-CorePositionPaper.pdf
