Joyplus demonstrated a digital pen and novel, quick change 3G datacard. Joyplus offers a variety of tablet products. Some include original software created by Joyplus, such as digital pen support. Over the past five years they have focused on the consumer market, but they are increasingly addressing other markets such as education and communication. Joyplus recently introduced a novel, quick change 3G datacard for their tablet incorporating mobile broadband technology from Huawei. They have also developed a digital pen for onscreen handwriting. No pricing information was provided, but their monthly manufacturing capacity is around 200,000 units.
Huawei claims this to be the worlds fastest smartphone, using Huawei’s own HiSilicon 1.5Ghz Quad-core ARM Cortex-A9, with CAT4 capable 150mbitps LTE modem, super slim and light design with a 2400mAh battery, new power management technologies that Huawei says provides 30% longer battery life. It runs Huawei’s Emotion UI.
Here’s my overview video of the latest ARM Powered HDMI Sticks that I have found in Shenzhen China, including the $30 Allwinner A10 single-core ARM Cortex-A8, $40 Rockchip RK3066 dual-core ARM Cortex-A9, $89 Freescale i.MX6 quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 and the $150 HiMedia Q5 HiSilicon Hi3716C single-core ARM Cortex-A9 Set-top-box running the interesting HiControl Android application for remote controlling, mouse and mirroring support from any Android tablet and phone to your HiMedia set-top-box.
HiMedia makes some really cool set-top-boxes, until last year they were doing realtek mips based boxes that are quite popular in China and Hong Kong markets, now they are releasing ARM Powered Android set-top-boxes, here launching the HiMedia Q5 based on the HiSilicon Hi3716C ARM Cortex-A9 solution, it’s a single-core 1Ghz with full video codecs support. This box has an awesome range of features including a very impressive HiControl application, similar to wifi mirroring, it lets you use any Android device to remote control your Q5 set-top-box while seeing a real-time screengrab on your Android device while you remote control it. I’ll post a further video-review of this product during the next couple of days, check back.

– HiControl App for Android by HiMedia, use any Android smartphone or/and tablet as Touch-screen for the set-top-box and as a Remote-controller. Thus mouse, remote control, and mirrorring-like support of full Android UI. Accelerometer can also be used for games that use it.
– Hishare App for Android by HiMedia, similar to DLNA (or actually using DLNA protocol), stream your pictures, video, audio from your Android phone or tablet to your Himedia Q5 set-top-box over WiFi.
– Apple Airplay compatible, for streaming pictures, video and audio from iPhone/iPad.
According to this benchmark (which I don’t really know how it was measured and what it really means in terms of real Android usage performance):
Huawei K3V2 processor managed to beat NVIDIA Tegra 3, Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8660, Samsung Exynos, TI OMAP4 right off the bat. At 1280×720 resolution (HD Ready), the HiSilicon K3V2 and its GPU managed to achieve 25 frames per second, with the closest follower being Qualcomm Snapdragon and its Adreno 220 GPU with 18 fps. In the same benchmark, NVIDIA Tegra 3 with its ULP GeForce GPU only managed to reach 12 frames per second.
It supports the DVBT standard and to use any RJ11 telephone as a VOIP phone through that device. IT can record and timeshift any DTV signal to any USB storage.
One of the most impressive sights at the Mobile World Congress was for sure the insanely awesome Huawei Horse, made of hundreds, maybe thousands of real Huawei smartphones (my guess, probably just some bad yields thus recycled for art). The statement I think is that Huawei is now ready to take over the market. They mean business. They are serious about it. They claim to have the fastest Smartphone and Tablet on the market, and they also cover all ranges all the way down to the cheapest lowest end most affordable Smartphone. My take is we all need to pay attention to Huawei. In any ways, this Huawei Horse is awesome. It was an awesome sight during the nights of the MWC, imagine an awesome DJ up high in front of the columns, the castle at the top of the mountain, awesome house music, acrobats, and cool lights lighting up this Huawei Horse, mobile industry insiders networking in front of that. This is awesome.
Huawei’s new high performance Diamond series phone uses the new HiSilicon K3V2 Quad-core 40nm ARM Cortex-A9, with 64bit latest/fastest DDR2-for-smartphone memory bandwidth, they claim it has the worlds fastest ARM performance. Here’s an interview with the chief architect on the processor. I try to ask him about the performance, memory bandwidth, GPU, processor design. The K3V2 is made at the TSMC foundry. He has a team of about 500 processor engineers working for him in Shanghai to design this processor. He claims HiSilicon’s cache coherent interconnect design makes it superior to designs such as Tegra3, HiSilicon does not need that “companion core” as they claim to have designed the Quad-core in “the correct way”. HiSilicon has a GPU design partner which I have not heard them mention who it might be. In 6-12 months, HiSilicon is likely to release an ARM Cortex-A15 design on 28nm and also to upgrade their ARM Cortex-A9 designs to 28nm “when 28nm is ready”, for now, he says that the 28nm process manufacturing has too much leakage.

This one uses the new Huawei HiSilicon 1.5Ghz Quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 and is also of only 6.68mm of thickness! Huawei seems to claim that their 1.5Ghz Quad-core processor is 2x faster than a Tegra3! Huawei has been manufacturing ARM Processors for a while, but I had only seen some slower Single-core HiSilicon 3716 ARM Cortex-A9 versions used for Set-top-boxes (such as in the Coupoint at $65 and Blue Times at $50), this is the first Huawei HiSilicon processor for Android Smartphones as far as I know! The Tegra3 runs at 1.3Ghz so if this one really runs at 1.5Ghz in Quad-core mode, it really might be the fastest processor yet! The question is how soon Huawei is going to be ready to release this one. It’s really awesome to see Huawei be so aggressive and innovative with their designs, it’s going to be very interesting to follow what types of price segments Huawei plans to aim this device at.

Here’s the first time that I see an Android set-top-box with the new HiSilicon ARM Cortex-A9 Single-core processor made by Huawei. This seems to be a pretty smooth Android set-top-box implementation for the price, though obviously, just as for all other Android set-top-boxes, this will only really be useful once the Google TV software is finally open sourced for ARM Powered devices, which is expected to happen next month when Ice Cream Sandwich is released and open sourced. It’s very interesting to see this new HiSilicon ARM Cortex-A9 processor from Huawei.
