China Unicom tells me they sold 20 iPhone 5S today in the first 5 hours at their main Shenzhen store. Shenzhen is the smartphone center of the world. iPhone5s $930 iPhone5c $770 in China. Nobody cares at iPhone5s/c launch day here in Shenzhen China. You can buy Android iPhones here for $30, Android is 31 times cheaper than a “real” Apple device! How many Chinese people want to spend 2 months salary for an Apple factory worker (working 65+ hours a week) into buying a new phone?

Archos Childpad

The Archos Childpad is a 10″ or 8″ rugged tablet aimed at the younger audience. The Childpad has a toy bear Mp3 player attached to it for the purpose of playing audio files away from the tablet, it works by having music dragged to it. The Bear Mp3 player charges through the tablet. The price is targetted to have a retail price of about 160 Euro for 10.1″ and 130 Euro for 8. The 8″ version lacks a handle and lack the bear MP3 player. Expect the product to launch around October or November.
E Ink SmartCover for Alcatel One Touch Hero

The Alcatel One Touch Hero has a E Ink display cover which can display system functions and can act as a second screen for reading ebooks. The E Ink cover attaches to the device using a docking pin on the side of the device. The E Ink screen by displaying content rather than having the LCD do it you save power. The final version of the cover will have the ability to magnetically clip to the back. The E Ink cover at this time only supports the built in e-reader app but 3rd support should come in the future. The One touch hero has a 6″ full hd screen with pen support, the MT6589T 1.5Ghz Quad-core processor, 8gb and 16gb options with Micro SD expansion, 2gb of ram, and 3400mah battery.

I love computers and I am fascinated by them, and the idea that i can mount my own computer with my hands like lego and this has in the 90’s. Now we have mini pcs or hdmi tv dongles small computers that you can put in your pocket but they have some faults.
1-Internal wifi with bad performance, solution for this issue, external antennas that were implemented by the manufactures (see cozyswan s400 hdmi tv dongle and others)
2-A audio combo jack,is important for people that have lcd monitor’s that dont have speakers, they need the audio combo jack (see MK806 hdmi tv dongle)
3-A 2-pin connector for a fan and holes to fix the fan into the board, for heating problems.
4-change the usb 2.0 to usb 3.0 for better performance (see hardkernel odroid xu+E)
5-the storage issue, all hdmi dongles have nand flash that is welded and you cannot remove to upgrade, only by microsd card.
People nowadays use microsd cards to install linux and to boot from the card but a youtube user posted that booting from a microsd card is not very fast and the performance is not very spectacular.(30MBps)
So the best solution is using a Emmc card with a connector in the bottom-160 Mbps (see hardkernel)
so with paint and gimp i altered some pictures of hdmi tv dongles that i found in the internet to show you what I considered should be the perfect Hdmi tv dongle
In this first picture I added by paint some holes and a 2-pin fan connector to put a “future” fan like this (photo from a russian web site)
In the third picture, I removed by paint the NAND FLASH and I added a Emmc connector. And the combo audio connector because a lot of people that I know they dont have speakers in their lcd monitor.
In the market there is already a company (hardkernel) selling this emmc cards with connectors, but is very expensive if every company that does hdmi tv dongles adopt this standard i think that the price will come down, and everyone can altered their storage very easy.
I am writing this post to show people that they can present good ideas to change the statuos quo of the designs of the hdmi tv dongles or mini pc.
And manufactures could see what can they do to change for a better way the mini pc.
$30 Allwinner A13 7″ Android Tablet Factory Tour, ZXS ZhiXingSheng

ZXS is a 7-year old electronics factory in Shenzhen, selling many Tablets and Car DVR’s at the moment. The market is USA, Baltic countries and the middle-east. This is a tour of the $30 Android Tablet ZXS factory. Shows sales staff working on the computers. Next, the unpacking of PCBs. Allwinner A13 based PCBs. Then filming the final assembly only to go back to other parts of the assembly. After the factories receive the PCBs, screens are attached. After screens are attached touch panels are attached. After touch panels are attached batteries are attached soon after. The camera module is then attached next. Then Android is installed on all the different devices using a boot firmware install MicroSD card. After Android is installed the Wifi module is tested. The final part of the manufacturing process is packaging and sending the products to other parts of the world. Last shown is the warehouse with all the components arriving for use in the manufacturing of tablets. ZXS expects to manufacture 90,000 tablets per month by next year.

Latest ZXS ZhiXingSheng Android Tablet Range
Here are the latest products being made by the ZXS ZhiXingSheng factory. There’s a 7″ Android tablet with a Allwinner A13 processor. Another version of the A13 product is available with 2g Dual sim functionality and is available for 60 USD in bulk. A single sim 2g version is available for 50 USD in bulk. A 3G model of the A13 tablet with a single sim card is also available for 60 USD. A smaller version of the Allwinner A13 model is available with a thinner bezel. The Allwinner A13 tablet is also still available in 9″ size. The 9″ model sells for about 50 USD in bulk. The 9″ also has a 2g model for 78 USD. Another tablet that was shown was a 7″ 1024×600 MTK6577 based Android tablet with dual sim functionality. An 10″ tablet with a dual core Allwinner A10 was also shown. A 7″ Allwinner A20 tablet was shown available for 60 USD. The MTK model has a 3800mah battery that can last 4.5 hours on video playback. The MTK models sells for around 70 USD in bulk. The MTK model is available in multiple colors and finishes. ZXS mostly targets the US and European markets with their products. Sony AX1 4K Camorder, records 4K 24p/25p/30p/50p/60p on XQD memory cards in XAVC S codec at 60/100/150mbitps

Sony presents their first consumer 4K camcorder. The price is $4500€. Records 3840×2160 in 24p, 30p, 25p, 50p and 60p. Encoding using Sony’s new XAVC S codec. XAVC S is a new version of XAVC, used in Sony’s higher-end F5 and F55. XAVC S 4K footage is encoded in 3 possible bitrates 60mbit/s, 100mbit/s and 150 Mbit/s on Sony’s new XQD memory card format. SD Card is only for 1080p recording, the USB host port might allow for 4K recording to an external hard drive, I am not sure. This new Sony camcorder arrives on the market in November. The end of this video also shows some of the latestSony 4K TVs selling for starting about 4000€ in Europe for Sony’s 55″ 4K TV and about 5500€ for Sony’s 65″ 4K TV.
Allwinner A23, optimized dual-core ARM Cortex-A7, lower power consumption and lower cost

Here’s Eva at the Allwinner booth announcing the launch of the new Allwinner A23 dual-core ARM Cortex-A7 with Mali-400MP2 GPU, they claim it to be the most efficient dual-core in the world. The new Allwinner A23 offers lower power consumption, better performance and a lower more optimized cost compared to the previous Allwinner A20. Allwinner products support Android up to version 4.2.2 with 4.3 coming later. The A23 will be mass produced in October to be shown in devices here on ARMdevices.net in the weeks to come. Allwinner claims to be the largest producer of ARM SoCs for tablets in the world.
Qualcomm Toq Smartwatch uses Mirasol display

Qualcomm shows off their new Mirasol for smartwatch prototype, the Qualcomm Toq, they are releasing a few hundred “good yield” smartwatches to some limited amount of people who will be able to order, pre-order it online. Does this mean the Qualcomm Mirasol screen can be mass produced? Qualcomm does say that this smartwatch prototype is only going to be released in a limited amount to a limited amount of people.

Marseille shows their latest VTV-1222 family of 4K video processors providing single-chip solution to process, enhance, and upscale legacy video content to 4K (3840×2160) for display on next generation 4K UHD TVs. Marseille claims to provide one of the best 4K upscaling technologies yet, to upscale 1080p content to 4K. Thompson TCL 4K TVs 50″ and 55″ invading the European Market

Thompson presents two new 4K TVs for the European market, 50″ 4K and 55″ 4K. The 50″ is to be sold initially for about 2,000-2500 Euros and the 55″ is to be sold for about 3,000-3,500 euros. Consider those are the introductory prices and that one can maybe hope prices to quickly come down during 2014 to for example 1000 euros for 50″ 4K and 1500 euros for 55″ 4K. Both TVs support native 4K content (maximum of 30fps over HDMI 1.X standard) and up-scaling conventional HD content to 4K resolutions with the Marseille upscaling solution certified by Technicolor. Thomson is thus the brand to bring TCL’s 4K TVs to the European market. Here’s hoping that the 55″ 4K TV from Thomson/TCL reach the sub-2000 Euro price point all over Europe sooner rather than later!
