Allwinner unveils Tina OS, their open-source OS based on Linux with their full range SoCs with open source support from Allwinner. Allwinner R8 is their entry level Single-core ARM Cortex-A8 SoC; Allwinner R16 is their quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 at 1Ghz with WiFi; Allwinner R40 is their new enhanced Quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 for the IoT and open source market, with better performance and enhancements including HDMI support; Allwinner R58 is their 28nm Octa-core ARM Cortex-A7 at up to 2.0Ghz with ISP and a higher performance GPU. Allwinner open source partners making and selling development boards includes the $9 CHIP deveplopment board based on Allwinner R8 with 512MB RAM, 4GB Nand Flash, with WiFi and Bluetooth4.0. CHIP got 2 million dollars funding from their kickstarter campaign and they have shipped to all their backers last December/January. The world’s most affordable usable Laptop. It’s ARM Powered, it runs Remix OS 2.0 on Allwinner A64 quad-core ARM Cortex-A53, with an ARM Mali400MP2 GPU, with a decent 11.6″ 1366×768 display, a good keyboard and a basic mousepad (better mousepad option can be used), 1GB RAM and 8GB Flash, with 2GB RAM and more Flash options also possible. The price for this laptop can be as low as $79 to $99 if mass produced in huge volumes in the weeks/months to come, depending on the 1GB or 2GB RAM and depending on the installed Flash storage capacity (8GB, 16GB or 32GB), depending on the installed battery capacity/quality (battery life) and depending on the mousepad quality. There is also an about $20 higher priced 14.1″ Allwinner A64 Remix OS 2.0 Laptop alternative available. The price totally depends on which distributor takes this platform and distribute it where and what profit margins they decide to take. If the demand is high, this Allwinner A64 Remix OS Laptop will be fully funded on crowdfunding platforms, then available in all retail stores and available as an impulse buy at supermarkets around the world. This, I think, is the big chance for Allwinner to make their A64 processor super popular. Also they have a nice open mold design 2-in-1 Laptop Tablet convertible design that should be bulk priced also below $99 with an 11.6″ IPS touch screen, and also a decent keyboard and mousepad. With $1.6 Million successful Kickstarter funding, shipping to their backers within weeks, Jide shows Remix Mini, a 64bit ARM Desktop PC TV Box! It’s real, I am publishing this video using a review sample of it (let me know in the comments what I should test in my review video!) They sold some at $40 to their early backers on Kickstarter, in total 21 thousand people have ordered it. The Remix team is based in Beijing, they have worked on a beautiful and amazing Desktop-like UI for Android, it really feels like a Desktop computer. Remix Mini supports every Android app. Apps open in windows in the UI, some apps open by default in full screen but mostly can be set to only open as a window (right click on app and change app to open in window). Remix Mini ships with Allwinner’s new 64bit ARMv8 Quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 capable of playing back HEVC H265 in 4K. This is the beginning of Android being used for productivity!
