Android has always been fully secure, can only be compromised by certain apps only made within the community of anti-virus software providers, or attempts by chinese or russian spyware people, those apps CANNOT be installed through Google Play Store, people are NEVER going to be infected regardless the version of Android because people don’t use other app stores that Google Play and even if they do, 99% of Android devices in use have new enough Android 4.something since when Google Play simply needs to be installed to protect the device even for apps rhat are sideloaded from other app stores. 99% of the other app stores that are not Google Play are also 99.9999% safe they will never distribute any compromised app.

On the inside, recent x86 are very much like ARM cpus. On the outside they offer lots of instructions (unlike arm) but on the inside they compile them into simpler instructions, that cpu can understand.

Thats just flat out a lie. You need to upgrade the whole system (ie 4.4 -> 5.0) to patch a lot of the vulnerabilities. Lots of cheap devices still come with outdated versions of android (like 4.4 or 5.0) which contain known vulnerabilities and will never be patched.

A64 actually supports 3GB of ram.

I’m not talking about spyware, but actual vulnerabilities inside android, that are not patched. Think of Stagefright for example.

Just look at the chipset in question. A64 still runs 3.10 kernel, which is 3 years old. And you can bet your bottom dollar, that allwinner wont bother to support or update it. No, they will just release a new SoC with newer kernel/android.

Meanwhile with intel (or amd) you can run your latest OS on a 10year+ hardware without a hiccup.

A very very tiny small amount of Android devices are infected by any spyware. Android does not have a security issue. If you have Google Play on your Android device, which more than 99% of Android devices outside of China have, getting any spyware is pretty much impossible.

a lot of those devices also run obsolete versions of android, that have known vulnerabilities. All because they use shitty Chinese SoCs, that kill off any software support the moment they are released.

Im not here to defend intel, but im really not liking the strategy arm SoC makers are doing. Atleast with intel, you know your device will still have updates in 5 years time.

99% of ARM Powered Android devices being used on the market can run 99% of the most popular apps on the Android Play Store. That is how things are supposed to be. And ARM Chromebooks have excellent performance, actually demonstrably better performance than Intel Chromebooks trying to be sold to the same market. Those are the platforms of the future. Intel is just desperately trying to stay relevant.

Well thats really an unfair. You wont do said things on a arm device, so why expect an x86 of similar price/power budget to do the same ?

arm is the future. But not in a form like its now, where everyone can make its own soc, that needs a special build of kernel/rootfs to work.

arm needs an unified arch, so that essential functions will work, regardless of what shitty soc you pick. now youre at mercy of the soc manufacturer that provides the kernel. once they kill off support, your toast. You literally have a piece of useless silicon.

Good luck running Photoshop, Call of Duty, Open Office, even GIMP and Chrome slow down and crash. ARM is the future. Intel just fired 12 thousand employees, Intel must pivot and start making ARM processors, that’s the way things go. Even Windows 10 is designed for ARM, asking all app developers to develop all future Windows 10 apps for ARM in the Windows Universal app format.

running said chipset and windows runs smoothly on it. Along with all the basic apps, that such systems are designed for.

Tens of thousands of popular x86 apps are useless and unresponsive on those low end x86 processors that you advertise. Why build an x86 system if you can’t even support the most popular x86 apps smoothly.

Well, there are full fleged oses like windows or ubuntu, that work on x86 just fine. and dont lose support over time as its the case with arm (especially with cheap chinese socs). Hello old kernels if you want any decent functionality.

also, z3735f isnt all that more expensive. you can find hdmi sticks with 2g of ram and 32g of flash for less than 70$. and its pretty power efficient too (without gpu boost, SoC never goes over 2w).

im sure z3735f version with 1g of ram and 8gb of flash could be doable for 100$

Yes RK3399 and MT8173, both of those will be perfect also but priced a bit higher, maybe $20-$30 higher because it is not only the CPU that gets to a level higher, also with those 4GB RAM makes sense, and with those also Chrome OS makes sense.

The experience of Remix OS and Android in general is much smoother and better on ARM than on x86. Hundreds of thousands of Android don’t work natively on Intel x86 they have to be “fakely” emulated on x86. And x86 hardware is more expensive and emits more heat.

You’re right. This processor cannot handle more then 2GB RAM.
However, this might be a good opportunity to think about a better processor which supports much more RAM and they can price it a big higher if they would let the user stick a SO-DIMM for memory expansion. Just an idea 😉

More RAM than 2GB even on the Allwinner A64? I would think maybe 4GB RAM option is more usable with ARM Cortex-A72 laptops such as the RK3399 or MT8173. But we are now checking with the factory what their prices can be for 2GB and 4GB RAM options and for more Flash storage options and we’ll update the post here. They gave me a sample and I will post more videos about it soon so check back..

Dude, chill, it has a mali400MP2. Games on my S3 lagg with a mali 400mp4 with a clock speed of 640mhz and i doubt the clock speed on that thing is going anywhere beyond 1ghz.
