Here Apigy talks about their experience doing crowdfunding to launch the http://lockitron.com without the use of Kickstarter, for some reason Kickstarter had not allowed them onto their site, so they decided to build their own alternative to Kickstarter. And http://fundedbyme.com talks about micro-investing in startups, letting anyone buy equity in new startups on the web.
