This conversation was filmed at Web Summit Lisbon 2025, where the team was showcasing to investors and enterprise technology leaders at the conference.

On the supply side, researchers and early-stage deep-tech startups can submit their work for discovery via an open intake portal, making their capabilities visible to enterprise R&D without paywalls. Deeli AI partners with labs and institutions to ingest pre-publication or pre-patent signals where possible, then matches intent from enterprise queries to relevant people, papers, prototypes, and licensing candidates. The aim is to replace fragmented conference networking with programmatic, prompt-to-partner matchmaking across the R&D pipeline.

Unitree G1 Humanoid Robot $18’000 Humanoid Robot at Web Summit Lisbon 2025 Advanced Robot for R&D

In this interview from Web Summit Lisbon 2025, Bruno Lopes from HPDrones a partner company introduces the G1 humanoid robot built by Unitree Robotics, describing it as a relatively affordable humanoid platform (around US $18,000) and highlighting its open-source SDK for programming and development. The robot is presented as a general-purpose bipedal machine, not restricted to a single task, with a modular design allowing added sensors and hands, and the ability to stand and recover without falling—an important feature given the instability inherent in humanoid locomotion.

The G1 stands out technically because it supports 23 to 43 degrees of freedom (depending on configuration) and uses force-position hybrid control in its hands, giving it more dexterity than many earlier humanoids. It features a LiDAR and depth-camera setup (for example a Livox Mid-360 plus Intel RealSense D435) for perception, enabling it to perceive and map its environment in 3D. Although in the video the tasks shown are mainly walking, balancing, dancing, and looking stable in crowds, the underlying platform suggests readiness for more complex manipulation and locomotion research.

From the interview we learn some key real-world operational details: the robot weighs about 35 kg, has a battery runtime of roughly two hours, and a recharge of around 19 minutes. These match product specifications for the G1. The presenter also noted that while it can be programmed to do household-style tasks (laundry, dishes, cooking) in theory, “right now you have to programme it” — it lacks true autonomous task-level intelligence out of the box.

It’s worth emphasising the context: Unitree has positioned the G1 as a mass-production-capable humanoid for research and development, rather than a finished consumer appliance. For example, a news piece states that although the price was around $16,000 at launch, the robot still “needs teaching” to make breakfast. And recent developments show Unitree launching a lighter, cheaper R1 model for about $5,500 — indicating the G1 is part of a progressive platform strategy.

In summary, the interview at Web Summit reveals the G1 as a milestone in accessible humanoid robotics: a reasonably priced biped with strong mechanics, good sensor-hardware, open SDK, and real-world use in universities and development labs. While it cannot yet interpret natural language commands to independently cook or load laundry, it provides a robust hardware/firmware foundation. For those looking to build up humanoids with proprioception, force-controlled hands and 3D perception, it represents a meaningful step forward.

At Embedded World 2025, Microchip Technology showcased a truck loading bay monitoring demonstration, highlighting the capabilities of their SAMA7G54 microprocessor. This Arm Cortex-A7-based MPU, operating up to 1GHz, integrates advanced imaging and audio subsystems, including a MIPI CSI-2 camera interface, facilitating real-time object detection and machine learning applications.

The demonstration utilized Microchip’s Ampulse toolset to develop a custom machine learning model capable of detecting trucks within the loading bay. Each detected truck was represented by a blue point on the display, turning the corresponding spot red when a truck occupied it, thereby providing an intuitive visualization of the monitoring system’s functionality.

In addition to the truck loading bay monitoring demo, Microchip’s booth featured various other interactive exhibits. Notably, a setup incorporating Lego structures and a multitude of sensors showcased the versatility and integration capabilities of Microchip’s embedded solutions in diverse applications.

The SAMA7G54 microprocessor supports up to 2GB of DDR memory and includes interfaces such as dual Ethernet ports (Gigabit and 10/100), multiple CAN-FD channels, and high-speed USB connections. These features make it suitable for industrial and automotive applications requiring robust connectivity and real-time data processing.

Microchip’s commitment to providing comprehensive development support is evident through their SAMA7G54-EK evaluation kit. This kit offers connectors and expansion headers for easy customization, facilitating rapid prototyping and integration into various embedded systems.

The integration of advanced peripherals, such as the MIPI CSI-2 camera interface, allows developers to implement low-power stereo vision applications with enhanced depth perception. This capability is particularly beneficial for applications in machine vision and automation, where accurate environmental mapping is crucial.

At Embedded World 2025, Arcane Four unveiled TeleCANesis, a tool designed to streamline data transfer across various systems and transport protocols. This solution minimizes the need for repetitive boilerplate code, enabling rapid setup of connections and ensuring seamless data flow within applications. TeleCANesis offers two primary tools: a web-based system architecture interface and an extension for Visual Studio Code (VS Code). The web-based tool allows system architects to design and map out data flow by creating “blueprints.” Users can drag and drop various “capsules,” each representing different system components, such as QNX capsules or Linux cloud capsules. Connectors like CAN receivers, MQTT receivers, and ZeroMQ transmitters facilitate data routing between these capsules, ensuring efficient communication across the system.

For engineers, the VS Code extension provides a more hands-on approach. By importing messages from a DBC file—commonly used in automotive contexts to define CAN bus messages—engineers can create internal representations that the TeleCANesis engine comprehends. This process involves setting up receivers and transmitters, such as a socket CAN receiver for Linux systems and a Storyboard IO transmitter for user interfaces. This integration within VS Code offers engineers a familiar environment to configure and manage data flows effectively.

Arcane Four’s experience in systems integration has led to the development of TeleCANesis, addressing the challenges of modern, complex systems that require multiple interconnected components, including cloud servers and various devices. By reducing the need for repetitive coding, TeleCANesis enhances development efficiency and ensures consistent data flow across diverse platforms.
