Barco showcased the Barco Swift Agent at InfoComm 2026, a computer-based camera and live production switcher that integrates workflows for both camera feeds and display screens. The system is designed to automate stage-bound presentations by utilizing artificial intelligence to track presenters and manage video switching. This automation aims to reduce the necessity of having a dedicated AV technician or camera operator present in every room, allowing operators to oversee multiple rooms simultaneously.

The system supports both static cameras and PTZ cameras to capture presenters on stage. The integrated AI tracks and selects shots for up to eight individuals simultaneously when using a fixed wide-angle camera. When configured for PTZ tracking, the system can utilize up to four cameras to follow up to four presenters, automatically cropping and framing the subjects based on their positions.

Automated switching currently relies on visual cues such as mouth movements and physical gestures to determine when to change camera angles. The system is designed for defined stage areas, optimizing tracking for lateral motion while limiting forward and backward tracking to prevent capturing background room activity. A future software update is planned to introduce audio-based automatic speaker detection, adding another data point to refine the automatic switching logic.

The user interface is web-based and runs on lightweight protocols, making it compatible with mobile tablets such as iPads. The system utilizes WebRTC for low-latency video streaming to ensure real-time previewing and manual override options. AV operators can easily pause the automated switching to manually select a specific camera source or solo a particular presenter before resuming the AI-driven automation.

To maintain the required live video processing, the switcher requires low-latency input sources, which can be achieved via direct cabling or fast, low-latency wireless transmission protocols. The initial product release is scheduled for September, with early adopter feedback expected to drive subsequent feature development and integration options for live event venues.
