HDMI® Technology is the foundation for the worldwide ecosystem of HDMI-connected devices; integrated with displays, set-top boxes, laptops, audio video receivers and other product types. Because of this global usage, manufacturers, resellers, integrators and consumers must be assured that their HDMI® products work seamlessly together and deliver the best possible performance by sourcing products from licensed HDMI Adopters or authorized resellers. For HDMI Cables, consumers can look for the official HDMI® Cable Certification Labels on packaging. Innovation continues with the latest HDMI 2.2 Specification that supports higher 96Gbps bandwidth and next-gen HDMI Fixed Rate Link technology to provide optimal audio and video for a wide range of device applications. Higher resolutions and refresh rates are supported, including up to 12K@120 and 16K@60. Additionally, more high-quality options are supported, including uncompressed full chroma formats such as 8K@60/4:4:4 and 4K@240/4:4:4 at 10-bit and 12-bit color.

For portable storage, Sandisk presents the new Extreme Portable SSD, which delivers speeds up to 2,000 MB/s over a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 interface, effectively doubling the performance of the previous generation. A forthcoming Extreme Pro Portable SSD, planned for the second half of the year, will utilize a USB4 interface to reach 4,000 MB/s, with sustained average speeds of 3,000 MB/s. This model is designed to be a workhorse for on-the-go video production, supporting newer MacBooks and other devices that can take advantage of the higher speeds beyond the 10 Gb/s limit of older interfaces.
The Extreme Pro Portable SSD with USB4 will be available in capacities up to four terabytes, with an eight-terabyte version planned for 2027. This addresses the growing need for high-capacity, high-speed portable drives as file sizes for high-resolution video continue to increase. Compatibility with the host machine’s USB interface is crucial to achieving the maximum rated speeds of these portable SSDs.
In the memory card segment, Sandisk updates its Extreme Pro SD card lineup, including V30, V60, and V90 models. The V60 and V90 cards now feature increased speeds and higher capacities, reaching up to two terabytes to support 8K video recording. The highlight of the card lineup is the new Sandisk Extreme Pro CFexpress 4.0 Type B card. This card is engineered for 12K video workflows, offering sustained speeds that make it suitable for the most demanding professional cameras.
The CFexpress 4.0 Type B card is VPG 1600 certified and is available in one, two, and four-terabyte capacities. Sandisk also demonstrates a CFexpress Type B reader that connects directly to an iPhone, enabling the recording of 4K ProRes video directly to the card. While the company has the technological potential to produce eight-terabyte SD cards and four-terabyte microSD cards in the future, there are no immediate plans to launch products with those capacities.
