Sunchip releases their first Intel based Wintel box the CX-W8, running Intel x86 Z3735F with 2GB RAM and 32GB Flash, selling starting at $69 for 1 thousand pieces without the $25 Windows 8.1 Licence.
TV Box Power Plug based on the AmLogic S805, ships at only $29 for 1 thousand pieces with 512MB RAM, 1GB RAM costs $3.5 more, other RAM and Flash configurations possible.
Unuiga shows their new 3G WCDMA Android TV box, based on Dual-core Rockchip RK3168 ARM Cortex-A9 running at up to 1.5GHz. It is a 28nm HKMG low power process with GPU PowerVR SGX54X up to 600MHz. With the 3G WCDMA SIM card slot, you can even make a phone call on the Unuiga 3G Box directly and stream videos through 3G data. Connectors include USB, LAN, WIFI, Bluetooth, SD card reader, HDMI up to 1080P. It runs Android 4.2 at the moment (Lollipop upgrade maybe possible). Best price is at $53 from 1K order. Add $1 for Bluetooth 4, a $3 built-in webcam and built-in 2.5″ Hard Drive options are also possible.
Unuiga S812 Box using Amlogic S812 Quad Core ARM Cortex A9, Mali 450 GPU, 2G DDR 3/16G Flash. Based on Android 5.1 lollipop, 2T2R 802.11 a/c/b/g/n dual band WiFi, 1000M Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.1. It supports 4K H.265 decoding and hardware 3D graphics acceleration, supports HDMI CEC and DRM such as Verimatrix, Widewine. They can make a DVB-T2/DVB-S2 and HDMI-IN version also. With 2 different new private tooling, mass production i ready from this month.
Pipo is selling a lot of Windows Intel Boxes to the Chinese and Worldwide markets, they have dual-OS running also Android on them. The second Pipo X86 box is the Pipo X8 with a built-in 7″ touchscreen LCD. Next Pipo will also do an Intel HDMI Stick. The retail price for the Pipo X8 is about $100 in China, it’s a bit more when exported to Europe which has VAT import tax and etc.

Nvidia has launched their Nvidia Tegra X1 Octa-core ARM Cortex-A57/53 big.LITTLE based Nvidia Shield Android TV Home Console Set-top-box with their 256-core Maxwell GPU for and impressive 4K gaming experience. Right now due to Android limitations the gaming is limited at 30 frames per second, but this could be pushed to 60 frames per second through a firmware update if Android TV will support it soon enough, the Maxwell 256-core GPU should support it. Advanced Android games look quite good, it plays back 4K video.
In 1986, Acorn shipped the ARM Development System, the world’s first ARM development board to ever be sold with an ARM Processor in it, a Tube-linked second processor for the BBC Master which allowed developers to write programs for ARM! Sophie Wilson, original ARM designer at Acorn Computers, talks about the History of ARM, with the devices that used ARM1, ARM2, ARM3, ARM610 in the Apple Newton and talking about how ARM was spun out of Acorn, how the ARM business model made ARM such a huge worldwide success.

Rockchip shows RK3368, their first 64bit ARM Cortex-A53 Octa-core processor, it can support H265 4K at 60fps decoding with HDMI 2.0 4K output. It already runs Android 5.1 thus Android TV works on it. Himedia already has a TV Box with it running inside and Pipo shows their Pipo P9 version running the RK3368 Octa-core 64bit processor.
Allwinner H64 OTT box development board is a 64bit Quad core ARM Cortex-A53 with H.265 4K decoding, 4K HDMI output, smart color display with Android 5 Lollipop support.
As you can see that they were preparing Android 5.0 launch in my previous video below posted a couple of months ago, Geniatech is now ready to launch their Android 5.0 Android TV players, in the form of the MyGica ATV1900ac and the ATV586 with Digital TV (DVB-T2 or ATSC).
Pipo shows their X7 TV Box which they say is getting a lot of traction at the moment, from people who want a cheap Intel x86 based desktop. It uses the Intel Atom Z3736F processor with 2GB RAM runs Windows 8.1. It is selling for about $100 in China as the retail price. The price exported to other countries may be a bit different. Pipo founder Ben Lai tried to do this project 15 years ago, but the hardware was too expensive costing more than $200-$300, now he says that the ecosystem is better for this product to become popular. They are considering to dual-boot Android or perhaps ship it running Chrome OS, as the Windows licence is about $25.
UyeSee shows their new platform based on the ALi M3733 dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 SoC with DVB-T2 Tuner. The price will be competitive. Running Android 4.4 for now with a custom UI. UyeSee will be showing their latest Set-top-box devices at the HK Fair.
