Screenly is a London based company. Screenly technology enables interaction between smartphones and consumer devices inside of stores using NFC technology. When an NFC smartphone is placed on a tag an experience appears on the screen. The technology utilizes NFC, Raspberry PI and Ubuntu Core. Screenly can be remotely managed from the web. The services costs around with $995 per screen per month with lower prices for higher volumes.
Daqri Smart Helmet with Augmented Reality
Daqri is a company which produces information technology for industrial uses. The Daqri Smart Helmet is a VR/AR helmet for industrial applications that uses 360-degree navigation cameras to analyze environments. Augmented reality can provide detailed information about work that is going on at a glance. The Smart helmet runs Ubuntu Linux and is based upon an Intel Core M7 processor, Intel realsense cameras, and offers 720p projection for each eye.
Bero shows his ARM Desktop and ARM Laptop
Bero (Bernhard Rosenkränzer) from the Linaro Mobile Group set out this week as you can see in my previous video to build and bring up his ARM Desktop based on the Quad-core ARM Cortex-A72 Marvell MACCHIATObin development board with a Radeon or Nvidia GPU. Bero also built his own ARM Laptop based on the Dragonboard 820 running Open Mandriva Linux.
Latest from the Linaro Digital Home Group at Linaro Connect San Francisco 2017
Mark Gregotski, DIrector of the Linaro Digital Home Group, provides an update on the latest work in open source for the Digital Home Group that LHG is working on including the adoption of OP-TEE (Open Portable Trusted Execution Environment) with DRM integrations including PlayReady DRM PK v3.3 on AOSP 8.0 on the HiKey960 development board and Widevine for Linux and for Android AOSP. NXP demonstrates some of their work, NXP has recently joined the Linaro Digital Home Group. The LHG group has worked to integrate V4L2 with gstreamer and ffmpeg to improve media playback on ARM offloading all the computation onto the video codec hardware of the SoC.
Qualcomm ARM Server Centriq 2400 at Linaro Connect San Francisco 2017
This is the Qualcomm 48-core (custom Qualcomm Falkor cores) Centriq 2400 ARM Server reference evaluation board. Featuring 48-cores with 12 DIMM slots of DDR4 RAM memory, dual PCI riser boards for fully customizable setup. At Linaro Connect SFO17, the ARM team is demonstrating an ELK big data demo with ElasticSEarch, Logstash and Kibana for graphic visualization running on Qualcomm Centriq 2400 processor. The Qualcomm Centriq 2400 processor is designed for cloud computing running these microservices in containers seamlessly. There is a 2nd demo of Linuxkit with NGINX running in a container. Both demos use Docker containers running on Ubuntu 16.04.

4K60 HDR on ALi M3755 quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 Set-top-box SoC

Ali M3733 is an ARM Cortex-A9 SmartHybrid HD DVB-C SoC with advanced security with a 5000DMIPS performance 1080p60 support, 720p60 video encoding support. This chipset is for example used by a Fiber to the home provider in Russia.
M3529 is an entry level MIPS based chipset with a 2000DMIPS performance which ALi has shipped in large quantities to the Indian market already.

The Livestream Studio HD550 ($9499 at Amazon.com) is a compact, portable all-in-one PC 4K live production switcher with 5x SDI/HDMI inputs, 1x SDI/HDMI output, built-in bonded transmission, 2x balanced XLR inputs, 3x graphics tracks, with it’s carry bag it makes the Studio HD550 is a portable system to set up to livestream a multi-camera setup at any event. This video also features the Livestream Mevo ($399 at Amazon.com) which provides for automated and manual multi-angle live streaming from a single camera.
$1329 Lenovo Yoga 920
Lenovo launches the Yoga 920 running on the 8th Generation Intel Quad Core U Series. starting with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 256GB PCIe SSD and a FHD display that has 15 hours of battery life but it can go with up to 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD with a 4K display that can have about 10 hours of battery life. It includes a microphone array to support long-range Windows Cortana voice-assistant that responds to spoken questions and instructions in standby mode from up to 4 meters away. The 4K version has a nearly edgeless 4K display, an optional Bluetooth-equipped Lenovo Active Pen 2 digital pen with Windows Ink that is more sensitive than the first version, that they claim to have no discernible lag with 4096 levels of sensitivity. Built with polished CNC aluminum available in Copper, Bronze and Platinum. It uses a sturdy “watchband hinge” design, two 40Gbps Thunderbolt3 enabled USB Type-C ports with multi-display and fast data transfer.
LG V30 with Plastic OLED
Here’s my view on the LG V30, a quite nice looking phone with Bang and Olufsen high quality DAC audio, FullVision Plastic OLED nearly bezel-less LG Display (see my LG Display video filmed at SID Display Week 2017 featuring LG’s Plastic OLED display here), it has a nice fingerprint reader on the back (unlike iPhone X). The price is possibly going to be very high (depending on LG’s pricing strategy), something like $699 or $799 maybe.

Nazar Bilous, CEO and Founder of http://lametric.com presents their prototype for their next generation LaMetric smart clock/dashboard, their current version is a very nice looking Smart Clock, notification dashboard with a very readable and colorful LED display, hackable with APIs, IFFT behaviors, to receive and to act on notifications, tasks, workout timers, business metrics, emails, news and more. You can have your LaMetric clock always on in the back of your room and it can activate, make a sound, each time for example that your YouTube channel gets a new subscriber, each time that you pass a certain YouTube views amount, each time Donald Trump tweets, or any other notification that you would like to be always aware of in your home or in your office.
Smart Mike wireless Microphone for iPhone (BT+Wi-Fi sync)
Smartwave Tech presents the Smart Mike, a compact microphone that records wirelessly perfectly and then automatically synchronizes the audio into the video using the smartphone app. As smartphones are getting amazing 4K video recording capabilities, even perhaps some with their dual-cameras soon enabling smooth video-bokeh in 4K (perhaps with the upcoming iPhone8), yet all Smartphones record bad sound quality on board. The Smart Mike is currently only working on any iPhone from iOS9 upward, later hopefully soon with Android support (once they get the Bluetooth-trigger incompatibilities and the sound synchronization video editing app acceleration in Android sorted out in software), it’s got an omni-directional but distance limited lapel microphone type sound recording that cancels all surrounding noise, they say they will later be able to support up to 7 microphones, currently only supporting one and also enabling the user to choose the volume for the internal iPhone microphone compared with the Smart Mike volume as the user merges the audio with the video in the app. Since it records on board the microphone’s 8GB of storage, it can currently record up to 2 hours before needing to be synchronized to the iPhone with the video (of which then the audio storage is each time cleared from the Smart Mike). Film making experts often do post-production sound synchronization from wireless audio recorders in software, the Smart Mike automates that procedure automatically. While they are also tweaking the sound sync to hopefully remove any type of echo when synchronizing the Smart Mike audio with the built-in Smartphone microphone audio. Sony Xperia XZ1, Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact
Sony has launched the same functionality as in the 5.5 Sony Xperia XZ Premium (which I filmed here) but in a more compact 5.2″ form factor in the Sony Xperia XZ1 and in a 4.6″ form factor in the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact. One new feature is the 3D Creator which uses Sony’s stacked image sensor to create a 3D scan of any object or person in front of the camera. The Sony Xperia XZ1 has a 19 MP Motion Eye camera with Super slow motion, 5.2” Full-HD HDR display, IP65/68 water resistant2 design and runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform.
65″ and 55″ TCL Xess X2 QLED Android TV
