HardKernel presents their latest update to the ODROID-X Exynos4412 quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 development board. This new ODROID-X2 ships with the 1.7Ghz (1.8Ghz over-clockable) Exynos4412 quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, with 2GB RAM, and a higher clocked 533Mhz Mali-400 quad-core GPU. The price is $149, the 16GB eMMC memory (4x to 5x faster than booting/running from SD Card) is $39 extra, the $9 power adapter is recommended also, then also add about $30 for shipping. Here is Ubuntu running, with support for doing things like compiling the Linux kernel on this ARM powered device supposedly with a performance superior to the first generation Intel Core i3 processor. Mali-400 hardware acceleration for Ubuntu should be coming soon, it’s already there for Android of course. The ODROID-X2 should start shipping from http://hardkernel.com by the end of November.

The $69 i.MX6 single-core, $89 i.MX6 dual-core wandboard Freescale i.MX6 single and dual-core development board is now being shown in some real world pictures, it should start shipping from the middle of November. Linux/angstrom on a 3.x kernel reportedly is running nicely. They are currently working on smoothening Android ICS support and also looking at JB to see what they can have for people to play with in early December.
http://wandboard.org is launching this new $69 (single-core) and $89 (dual-core, with wifi/bluetooth) Freescale i.MX6 Solo/Dual based ARM Cortex-A9 development board. They say they start shipping around the middle of November. No word yet if there’s going to be a quad-core i.MX6 Quad version also.

HardKernel pretty much is the official/unofficial Samsung Exynos/Hummingbird development kit maker out of South Korea. You can watch my previous videos when they launched the ODROID-A Exynos4210 Tablet Development Kit in March 2011, the ODROID-T in June 2011 and when they launched the original ODROID gaming development device in March 2010.
I guess you can consider this a bit like the official Exynos4412 development board, the Exynos4412 is one of the most powerful ARM platforms on the market today. If there’s a box, you may consider this an awesome ARM Powered desktop and set-top-box also. Can you run Jelly Bean, Ubuntu, Chromium OS and Windows RT on it? VIA shows it’s 49 USD computer, it is powered by a Wondermedia WM8750 (ARM11 SoC) at 800MHz. It is distributed with Android and supports 720p playback, has 4 USB 2.0 port, one 100Mbps Ethernet port, one VGA out and one HDMI out port, and standard analog input/output audio. It is build in a Neo-ITX form factor that allows to be used on any case that support Micro-ATX, it is expected to be released at the end of June 2012.

Bernhard Rosenkränzer who is the Android Toolchain expert at Linaro shows how Linaro’s version of Android 4.0.4 runs about twice as fast as stock Android 4.0.4 on the TI OMAP4430 Powered Pandaboard.
Raspberry Pi expects to have volume devices on the market by the end of the month. That means $25 and $35 (with ethernet) Broadcom ARM11 ARM Powered Desktops are thus just about to be broadly available.
Texas Instruments released this video showing that Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 now already boots fine on the OMAP4430 based $179 Pandaboard which you can buy at http://pandaboard.org. I expect that we might see Desktop-optimized user interfaces and a full Chrome web browser soon, maybe with Android 4.1 or 4.2. As I also think it’s important for every ICS smartphone to turn into a “desktop mode” when using the HDMI output and when a keyboard and mouse are detected.
Texas Instruments is launching a $5 ARM Cortex-A8, it’s re-optimized for specific tasks, it can go in tablets, but it can also be used in industrial and medical applications, and certain custom uses, where this can be thought of a high-end microprocessor yet very low cost, it starts at $5 for ordering 100 thousand units. It’s an ARM Cortex-A8 performance for industrial applications at the cost and power usage of ARM9 Microprocessor. TI’s Beagleboard.org community is launching the new $89 BeagleBone to develop on this platform. ST is the current leader in ARM Cortex-M series shipments, those microprocessors go into everything.
ARM Cortex-M4 with a DSP in the Freescale K60 Tower Board to demonstrate hardware accelerated Mp3 playback.
They are showing Ubuntu 11.10 running on the Toshiba AC100, and Ubuntu 11.10 Server Edition running on the OMAP4 Pandaboard.
They plan mass production and deliveries by Christmas this year of the $25 ARM Powered PC. It’s basically a Broadcom ARM11 based SoC on a PCB with USB host, Ethernet, SD Card slot and a HDMI output.

Over the past three months, we’ve been working hard to finalize the specs for the Raspberry Pi device, and to produce schematics and a PCB layout. Last Tuesday, we sent an alpha release of the board for manufacture. From an electrical perspective, this board is intended to be identical to the final device; the resulting units will be used to validate the schematic design, and will serve as our interim software development platform.
The Raspberry Pi is configured with an unknown ARM Processor, 128MB or 256MB RAM, SMSC LAN9512 USB 2.0 hub and 10/100 Ethernet controller.

Qualcomm is releasing this hardware and software development board solution for hardware makers wanting to customize their use of Qualcomm’s latest Dual-core ARM Processor. The Dragonboard includes a dual-core Snapdragon APQ8060 clocked at 1.5GHz (same as MSM8660 and MSM8260, just without the modem), runs on Android by default. The cost is $300 for a basic unit, and $500 if you want the screen and all the other components featured in this video.
Linaro and Samsung announced the new $199 Dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 development board featuring the 1Ghz Exynos 4210 processor, 1GB DDR3 memory with fast memory bandwidth.
The Raspberry Pi Foundation (a UK non-profit) plans to develop, manufacture and distribute an ultra-low-cost computer, for use in teaching computer programming to children. They expect this computer to have many other applications both in the developed and the developing world. Their first product is about the size of a USB key, and is designed to plug into a TV or be combined with a touch screen for a low cost tablet. The expected price is $25 for a fully-configured system.
