The key upgrade introduced with the RF 20c is a new optical modifier, which is also backward-compatible with the older RF 10c light. This attachment allows for precise control over the light beam, enabling users to create a very sharp edge. The modifier features a rotating focus optic for sharpness adjustments and integrated shutter blades for shaping the light and preventing spill.
The optical modifier system also supports the use of gobos, allowing for the projection of patterns and shapes. This combination of features—shutter blades, focusing optics, and gobo support—provides significant creative flexibility for lighting scenes in product photography, music videos, independent films, and documentaries.
The RF 20c is designed for portability, with a compact form factor and an integrated battery. At full 100% output, the light offers a run time of approximately one and a half hours. The unit is lightweight, weighing under 250 grams, making it suitable for a wide range of on-the-go production needs.
The new light is scheduled to be available after the beginning of May, with a target retail price of $80. The final package configuration, whether it includes the optical modifier by default or as a separate purchase, is yet to be determined. The products are distributed through the company’s website and major retailers like Adorama and B&H.
