DynaScan Outdoor Kiosks: LCD vs dvLED vs ePaper, Total Control Cloud, proof-of-display sensing

DynaScan walks through where high-brightness LCD still makes sense in digital signage: storefront windows, outdoor enclosures, and kiosks where glare and reflections would normally wash out content. The core spec shown here is up to 4,500 nits peak luminance across 32–86 inch classes, paired with factory TrueColor calibration so brand colors stay consistent across multi-display rollouts. https://www.dynascan.com/products/ultra-high-brightness-lcds/

A practical detail is how resolution and brightness trade off by size: the 65 inch class shown is around 4,000 nits and typically targets crisp, readable text at close range, while 75 and 86 inch move to 4K for larger-format installs where pixel density still matters. The emphasis is on sunlight readability across the street, with coatings and optical treatments available to reduce mirror-like reflections on front glass too.

Beyond standalone displays, the booth focuses on kiosk architectures that can mix LCD, fine-pitch dvLED, ePaper, and even traditional lightbox posters inside a single serviceable housing. The idea is “future-proofing” by allowing an operator to swap display tech later without ripping out the whole street furniture, while keeping touch, camera, and interactive sensing options available for wayfinding, retail, or transit use cases too.

The ePaper segment is framed around reflective readability and power efficiency in bright ambient light, plus a push toward faster refresh cycles than the classic “tens of seconds” update model, enabling more frequent content changes. This interview was filmed at ISE 2026 in Barcelona, where the broader theme is unified outdoor signage that can blend emissive and reflective display types depending on viewing distance, dwell time, and energy budget in each location.

Management is handled through Total Control Cloud: a network dashboard for asset health, alerts, power telemetry, remote power cycling, and location-based dispatch. A notable feature is proof-of-display using internal sensing (checking that imagery is actually visible, not just that a media player is online), which matters for advertising accountability. On the integration side, DynaScan points to SDM/SCM expansion, HDBaseT options, and built-in Android media players to fit different IT and AVoIP workflows too.

HDMI® Technology is the foundation for the worldwide ecosystem of HDMI-connected devices; integrated with displays, set-top boxes, laptops, audio video receivers and other product types. Because of this global usage, manufacturers, resellers, integrators and consumers must be assured that their HDMI® products work seamlessly together and deliver the best possible performance by sourcing products from licensed HDMI Adopters or authorized resellers. For HDMI Cables, consumers can look for the official HDMI® Cable Certification Labels on packaging. Innovation continues with the latest HDMI 2.2 Specification that supports higher 96Gbps bandwidth and next-gen HDMI Fixed Rate Link technology to provide optimal audio and video for a wide range of device applications. Higher resolutions and refresh rates are supported, including up to 12K@120 and 16K@60. Additionally, more high-quality options are supported, including uncompressed full chroma formats such as 8K@60/4:4:4 and 4K@240/4:4:4 at 10-bit and 12-bit color.
