TES TEC (represented here by Rachel Malford from TES America) builds touch display hardware that can scale from a bare projected-capacitive touch sensor + LCD module up to fully integrated self-checkout and kiosk-style systems, including deployments in Japanese retail. The point is flexibility: OEMs can buy just the front-end touch stack, or get a more complete HMI assembly depending on where they are in their product cycle and certification path. https://www.tes-tec.com/News_details/TESTECDebutsatEmbeddedWorldNorthAmerica2025.html

HDMI® Technology is the foundation for the worldwide ecosystem of HDMI-connected devices; integrated with displays, set-top boxes, laptops, audio video receivers and other product types. Because of this global usage, manufacturers, resellers, integrators and consumers must be assured that their HDMI® products work seamlessly together and deliver the best possible performance by sourcing products from licensed HDMI Adopters or authorized resellers. For HDMI Cables, consumers can look for the official HDMI® Cable Certification Labels on packaging. Innovation continues with the latest HDMI 2.2 Specification that supports higher 96Gbps bandwidth and next-gen HDMI Fixed Rate Link technology to provide optimal audio and video for a wide range of device applications. Higher resolutions and refresh rates are supported, including up to 12K@120 and 16K@60. Additionally, more high-quality options are supported, including uncompressed full chroma formats such as 8K@60/4:4:4 and 4K@240/4:4:4 at 10-bit and 12-bit color.

The demo focus is semi-outdoor HMI: a 21.5-inch APM-22 class unit targeting IP65 sealing and IK08 impact resistance, aimed at environments like EV charging, access control panels, and other outdoor terminals where wash-down, dust ingress, and vandal risk are real design inputs. In the same family, smaller formats (around 10.1-inch) lean into very high brightness for sunlight readability, while keeping the same “rugged-first” constraints that drive enclosure design and glass selection for field use.
A practical detail is how these displays fit into a full system architecture. TES TEC can pair the touch monitor with an embedded compute module (often in collaboration with industrial PC partners such as GIGAIPC / Gigabyte), or the customer can bring their own x86/ARM box PC and treat the display as a hardened peripheral. That split matters for lifecycle control: you can keep the mechanical + optical stack stable while iterating compute, I/O (USB-HID touch, serial, GPIO), and OS images across SKUs without redoing the whole front panel stack.
The broader takeaway is that “touch display” is really a reliability problem wearing a UI badge: brightness vs power budget, sealing vs thermal dissipation, glove-compatible PCAP tuning, anti-glare/anti-fingerprint coatings, and operating temperature planning all show up fast once you move from indoor POS to semi-outdoor and industrial embedded. This short interview is filmed at Embedded World North America 2025, and it’s a good snapshot of what vendors mean when they say they can meet customers anywhere on the path from component to complete HMI route.
