Japanese SoftBank Telecom company agreed to acquire ARM for $31.4 Billion, announced today. That’s what NYT, FT, Reuters, TheRegister have said.
The new UK Government of Theresa May seems to be happy about it.
UK’s best Technology company, Europe’s best Technology company, to be taken over by a Japanese Telecom company. What does this mean for the future of Processors? EnLaps self-sufficient time lapse recording solution
EnLaps is a perpetual time lapse recording device that features a solar panel built into it for unlimited recording. With streaming capabilities and a web portal for control, EnLaps uses two fish-eyed camera sensors and stiches the video together for 25MP pictures. It can be controlled via Bluetooth, WiFi or 3G, and the retail version is expected to cost EUR600. The KickStarter edition cost EUR400. It uses an ARM processor to record video. Shenzhen Richsat Electronics. Co. Ltd. is a 3 year old Shenzhen-based firm specialising in Android set-top boxes. Their entire range is on display here and the newest model features an RK3128 processor, with a WiFi antenna, ability to be controlled through IR or WiFi, costing between US$20-26 depending on model. Another STB features an Amlogic S905 CPU. The LED projector uses RK3128 CPU, and costs US$60 for a resolution of 800x480px display with 1500 lumen brightness.
iPhone 5/5s and iPad mini game controller from Reflying
Reflying International Electronic Co., Ltd is an Apple-certified manufacturer of battery cases, wireless chargers, and the accessories shown here such as gamepads. One is designed to fit an iPhone 5/5s between the controls, with the phone being removed in order to fold the gamepad. There is even a gamepad for the iPad mini on display, costing around US$100. The company currently supplies many general merchandise stores such as Target, Brookstone, Clas ohlson, Birgma etc.
Intel Cherry Trail laptops, tablets and projectors from HLS
HLS manufactures tablets and laptops for consumers. Their cheapest Windows tablet demonstrated here comes with an Intel Atom Z3735G chipset with a 1024×600 display costing US$37.1. The laptops demonstrated come in 14”, with an HDMI port, microSD card reader and 2 USB ports for US$110. The 11” model comes with an Intel Atom (Cherry Trail) x5-Z8300 CPU with 2GB RAM and 8000mAh battery rated for 3-5 hours of usage. Also on display is a Bluetooth speaker with a detachable camera that can be used as a security device. Their projector tablet comes with a 50 lumen brightness DLP projector and either RK3288 or Intel CPUs costing US$210 and US$220 respectively.

RoadSport is a Shenzhen-based company showcasing a diverse range of products, including a few novel Bluetooth speakers shaped into balls, speakers integrated into pillows, a keyboard for the xBox 360 controller that can be attached to it, and even fake birds (ducks or geese) that can be used as a hunting decoy (bait). DuPont PE410 ink for rapid prototyping of flexible OLED, solar, antennae and touch panels
DuPont Advanced Materials (DuPont) launches a new electronic ink for inkjet printing that offers the high conductivity and strong adhesion required for rapid digital design, prototyping and full-scale manufacturing. The technology will enable digital printing for electronic components and circuits in applications where extremely fine lines are required, such as OLED panels, solar cells, printed antennae and touch panels.
DuPont’s newest conductive ink, PE410, enables rapid prototyping and a smooth transition from “lab to fab” with the versatility to scale up to industrial high-volume inkjet print heads and machines. This allows circuit designers to immediately test a new design, quickly make necessary edits, and, due to reduced silver laydown, save on material costs. Allwinner partner with Qualcomm to launch cost competitive 4G LTE Tablet on Snapdragon chips
Allwinner announced plans to launch three tablet designs based on Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processors geared to get new growth opportunities in the tablet ecosystem. Allwinner will introduce the reference designs based on three new chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425, 430 and 435 processors.
These new tablets will deliver the key benefits of Snapdragon processors like 4G LTE CAT 6/7 Carrier Aggregation connectivity, support for FHD Display resolution,long battery life, and with affordable prices.
Prior to these new reference designs, Allwinner Technology had already developed a first round of designs and software SDK based on Snapdragon 210, 212 and 410 processors. Products by Chinese OEMs and ODMs like Cube and Emdoor are the result of that successful first round of designs. These products will be on display at MWC Shanghai 2016.
