Based in Warsaw, Poland, uBirds’ concept belt is displayed to be very flexible without breaking, with thickness claimed to go down in the production version. Using an STM32L1 series ARM Cortex-M3 MCU, the uBirds strap also features NFC and input based on taps to the strap to control phone behavior. The Linaro Digital Home Group (LHG) has achieved a milestone in the delivery of an open source reference solution for the consumption of premium content on ARM powered devices.
The media solution ulitizes several open source components coupled with a commercial DRM that executes in a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE). The TEE used is the Open Portable TEE (OPTEE) from Linaro, running on ARM TrustZone.
The solution integrates the following key components:
– W3C EME Working Draft (31 March 2015)
– Microsoft PlayReady DRM Porting Kit v3.0
– OP-TEE
– OpenCDM/OpenCDMi
– Chromium v43
The solution is powered by a STMicroelectronics STiH410 ARM Cortex-A9 processor.

TI DLP 4K Projector to be affordable

Texas Instruments introduces their affordable 4K Projector single 0.67” chip solution with 4 million mirrors fabricated using the TRP (Tip & Roll Pixel) design found in the DLP pico projector chips, with the affordable 4K chips ready for mass production within the next couple of months, affordable 4K projectors should start to be available by TI DLP projector manufacturers maybe from Summer or before the end of this year. The TI DLP 4K solution has 4 million mirrors on a 0.67-inch digital micromirror device (DMD) and uses image shifting technology and image processing algorithms to create 8 million sharp pixels projected to a wall at an affordable price. The new affordable TI DLP 4K solution allows for up to 5000lumen brightness, the price will be up to each 4K DLP projector manufacturer. I hope we can get these starting at below $2K and perhaps even below $1K soon enough. If they can reach these prices, then everyone should get a 4K projector in their home.
