Onyx International status of firmwares and products at CeBIT 2010
Onyx is talking about their latest status of the firmware updates that they are making for their implementation of embedded Linux in a wacom touch screen enabled WiFi e-ink e-reader the Onyx Boox, also sold at Bebook Neo. They are also talking about the imminent release of a 3G version, different designs, larger e-ink screens and the eventuallity of using Android OS in future devices or as a firmware update in the current one.
Prowave Android Tablet powered by Freescale
This is a cool looking Android Tablet that has built-in 3G with a SIM card slot, webcam and runs a customized Android user interface powered by the Freescale i.MX515 processor. It is manufactured by a Chinese OEM in Shanghai called Prowave. I’m not sure what the screen size might be, post a comment if you find more information about this product. It’s probably going to be much cheaper than the iPad, but this would have to be confirmed by the manufacturer or a distributor of this device. There is the Mastone brand on the device and behind it there seems to be this URL which may perhaps be the website of the Chinese distributor: http://mastone.cn/
Bebook Neo to be released for 299€
Bebook are now going to distribute the awesome looking e-reader for 299€ from their website. It is manufactured by Onyx International which I interviewed the Chairman, CTO and Marketing representatives at CES 2010 in my previously posted video:

Chromium Demo Video temporarily offline, check my other CES videos for now
This video about the cheap Chromium OS Tablet revolution was a bit too good (smooth Chromium on ARM Powered device!!), so I have been asked to remove it for now and edit some parts out and upload a new video.
I hope to get an edited version of it back online at some point. Or perhaps they will agree to let me film new video about it soon.
This page got some coverage at:

Freescale powered Smartbooks at CES 2010
Freescale is powering a new Smartbook design by Wistron running Canonical’s Ubuntu Netbook Remix, Sharp runs a Freescale processor in the Sharp PC-Z1 and Acer is launching the DisplayPlus D241H 24-inch smart monitor.
Sharp PC-Z1
This device is so far the most awesome I have seen at IFA 2009, it’s a 5″ Smartbook, one of the worlds first that will be released running on an ARM Cortex A8 processor by Freescale. Running Ubuntu 9.04 for ARM optimized for this ARM processor.
In this video I boot-up the machine (you probably wouldn’t need to boot it up really, it’s got 10 hours battery life and can probably go into standby just fine with instant resume from standby). I go on certain websites like Engadget.com over WiFi and I ask the Sharp PC-Z1 products representative a bunch of questions.

Kinpo Thin Client 7inch Android Tablet
Kinpo is making a 7 inch Android tablet powered by a Freescale processor. A bunch of engineers happened to come by the Freescale headquarters with this device while I was there filming a whole bunch of other videos. I then convinced them to show it to me and to let me film it. They installed Android on a 800×480 resolution 7″ touchscreen tablet device. It works pretty smoothly though they obviously have some tweaking that they still need to do before such a device can be sold. This device currently has some pretty obvious bugs like the video not playing correctly.
