At ISE 2025, Hive and Panasonic unveiled a groundbreaking collaboration that redefines media playback and projection technology. The centerpiece of their joint presentation was an immersive installation powered by seven Panasonic 25,000-lumen projectors, each integrated with Hive’s Beeblade Pluto media player. This setup eliminates the traditional need for external media servers, showcasing a streamlined approach to high-resolution content delivery.

Hive’s proprietary Beesync software played a crucial role in this demonstration, ensuring precise synchronization across all projectors. By leveraging Precision Time Protocol (PTP) and HDMI genlock, the system maintained frame accuracy within microseconds, resulting in a cohesive and fluid visual experience. This method underscores a shift towards more efficient and reliable synchronization in large-scale AV installations.

A notable feature of the exhibit was the integration of a live Unreal Engine scene projected onto the floor. A high-performance PC equipped with a V3 GPU rendered real-time 3D graphics, which were then streamed via NDI to the projectors. This dynamic setup allowed for interactive visuals, enhancing the immersive quality of the presentation and demonstrating the potential of real-time rendering in live events.

The installation also offered an interactive component where attendees could upload personal photos. Upon submission, the system extracted metadata such as location coordinates, which then guided the visualization. The display would rotate a virtual globe to the corresponding location, highlight the area, and present the user’s photo, seamlessly expanded using AI-driven outpainting techniques to fit the large projection canvas.

In terms of hardware innovation, Hive introduced the Beeblade Nexus, their latest media engine. This compact yet powerful device supports 8K60 HDMI 2.1 output and features optical fiber Ethernet interfaces capable of 10, 25, and 100 Gigabit connectivity. The Nexus supports uncompressed media streaming via SMPTE 2110 and NDI protocols, catering to the demands of high-bandwidth applications in professional AV environments.

The Beeblade Nexus is designed for versatility, compatible with any display device featuring an SDM-L socket. It can be housed in Hive’s modular enclosures, such as the Nucleus chassis, which accommodates two Beeblade modules in a 1RU configuration, or the Beehive chassis, supporting up to 16 modules in a 5RU format. A fully loaded Beehive delivers 16 synchronized 8K60 outputs, representing the highest density media playout solution currently available.

Complementing the hardware advancements, Hive’s V1.2 software update introduced several new features. These include 10-bit HDR support for enhanced color accuracy, warp and blend tools for seamless multi-projector setups, and Vioso camera-based calibration workflows for efficient alignment. Additionally, a new Dataflow interface enables event-driven playback control through intuitive flowchart-based designs, expanding creative possibilities for AV professionals.

This collaboration between Hive and Panasonic at ISE 2025 highlights a significant evolution in media playback and projection technology. By integrating advanced hardware with innovative software solutions, they have demonstrated a scalable, efficient, and immersive approach to large-scale visual installations, setting a new standard for the industry.
