Rayology.com $135 ARM Cortex-A9 Dual-Core 7″ Capacitive Tablet

Posted by Charbax – April 12, 2011

This is the first tablet that I have seen that is using the Renesas/NEC 1.2Ghz ARM Cortex-A9 Dual-Core processor platform (Renesas and NEC are collaborating on this ARM Cortex-A9 Dual-Core processor targeted at consumer electronics devices). I wonder how good this $135 Dual-Core Cortex-A9 tablet performs, I'll try to get a sample to review further for you later during the next few days. Let me know what needs to get tested on this in the comments.

  • Is this really running 1.2ghz per core? The NEC cortex A9, from what I understand, runs at 533mhz per core. Rayology tends to add core numbers together (they call the i.mx515 a 1ghz processor because it has 200mhz dsp).

“Renesas Mobile has debuted a new mobile application processor, the SH-Mobile APE5R, setting a new landmark for the wireless industry by combining a high-performance, low-power, dual-core implementation of the ARM® Cortex™-A9 MPCore™ running at 1.2 gigahertz (GHz), with the industry’s first implementation of Imagination Technologies’ multi-core POWERVR Series 5XT MP graphics technology.[/quote”

Sampling in June. That means the product in the video is being falsely advertised and is actually the EV2: http://www2.renesas.com/mobile/en/emma_mobile/em_ev.html

We already have seen some of those working samples on Shanzhaiben and also with various Chinese vendors.

Never heard of this company before.

This Device listen very good. Very!

  • Charbax, since you are meeting all these people, could you tell them that they would make a lot of money selling tablets with HDMI INPUT? Everybody who uses DSLRs needs another screen to check focus,etc.. A 7″ or 10″ tablet would be perfect with HDMI input. And if they also implement WHDI, USB 3 that would be cool..
