Posted by – March 5, 2010

Firstview Electronic HK Limited is showing the PC706V which may be one of the worlds cheapest laptops, it runs Android on a low cost and low power VIA 8505 ARM based 533Mhz processor, with 128MB RAM, 2GB Nand flash, 7″ 800×480 screen, WiFi, SD card reader Nand flash, 7″ 800×480 screen, WiFi, SD card reader 3G dongle support. It’s supposed to run 4 hours on a 2100mah battery, it loads websites slower than a more expensive computer, but it can be made for only $65 in the Chinese factories when ordered by big resellers in large quantities.

    Nice, but looks unfinished.

Looks like a straight port of Android. Why is the digital soft keyboard popping up on a screen that doesn't have any touch screen?

    Nice concept!

I have it here in 10″ model for $30 extra. I think the on-screen keyboard may be disabled just by a basic Android keyboard settings function. I will try that and report on it in my upcoming video review.

Cann’t believe that $65 for laptop. I am using netbook of 10 inch and doing a travelling job. I guess if can get such mini laptop of 7″ laptop, it will be mush easy for carrying and also is very cheap. I am only not sure regarding the durability and long-term use. But what can you expect in $65?

$65 for laptop? this seems to be a joke. cannot be that cheap but it it is android and Chinese market, anything can happen.

    Tried one…
all you can do is web-browse and display/read Microsoft Office documents (WORD, PPT, XLS)
It runs on an ARM processor (A great little processor for embedded applications)
It means, however, that most WinCE apps don’t run on it yet(?)
and there is precious little in terms of device drivers out there…
