The Shadow Dexterous Hand uses industry standard interfaces and can be used as a tele-operation tool or mounted on a range of robot arms as part of a robot system.

See the hand in action at http://www.youtube.com/user/srcteam

Approximating the kinematics of the human hand was our top priority when developing the Dexterous Hand. The Hand has 20 actuated degrees of freedom and a further 4 under-actuated movements for total of 24 joints. Each joint has a movement range again the same as or very close to that of a human hand, including the thumb and even the flex of the palm for the little finger. A model of the Shadow Hand for use in Blender was developed by Shadow and UPMC and is available from here: https://www.shadowrobot.com/downloads/ShadowHandEnvelop_2012-07-22.tar.bz2

It will evolve thanks to software updates, and you will be able to benefit from new features with the same connected eyewear your purchased. Today our connected eyewear detects drowsiness; tomorrow it will detect falls, and even prevent them, allow activity tracking and a lot more.

HOW DOES ELLCIE HEALTHY EYEWEAR WORK ?

The idea is to integrate a number of sensors to the eyeglasses’ frames, send the collected data (physical, physiological or environmental) via smartphone to Artificial Intelligence algorithms to be processed into information and / or predictions on the wearer’s health and  safety. All this being done thanks to a massively adopted object that are the frames of eyeglasses. The Ellcie Healthy frames are divided into two main product categories, the “consumer” frames on the one hand and the “medical devices” frames on the other hand that are subject to stricter regulations in France, Europe and the rest of the world.

OUR EYEWEAR PRODUCT SHEET

CONNECTED GLASSES YES, BUT ADAPTED TO MY EYESIGHT !

Ellcie Healthy’s Smart eyewear is compatible with correcting lenses. Simply go to your optician with your eye doctor’s order to get the lenses adapted to your sight on your Ellcie Healthy smart connected eyewear.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF ELLCIE HEALTHY EYEGLASSES

Nothing’s easier ! Ellcie Healthy glasses maintain themselves almost like less sophisticated glasses. You can wash them with wipes soaked in disinfectant, or by wetting a cloth. Be careful not to wash them under water.
For the proper functioning of the glasses and their longevity, we recommend not to leave them in the car in case of hot weather.

Ellcie Healthy is a startup created by Philippe PEYRARD (25 years’ experience in the Optical field) which designs and sells smart connected eyewear. Our technology brings valuable data to individuals in order to protect their health and increase their wellbeing and safety.

Sonostar E Ink Smartwatch prototype https://armdevices.net/2013/10/05/sonostar-e-ink-smartwatch-prototype/ https://armdevices.net/2013/10/05/sonostar-e-ink-smartwatch-prototype/#respond Sat, 05 Oct 2013 10:00:49 +0000 http://138.2.152.197/?p=83784 Here’s the latest Sonostar E Ink smartwatch prototype. The Bluetooth 4.0 data connection and E Ink screen seem to be working, now the main challenge I think is going to be app support, how Android is going to send over which data to the E Ink screen, there needs to be a Wearable Computer protocol for Android, one in which things like app notifications, small versions of apps can automatically be sent over to such a smaller display as this E Ink Bluetooth 4.0 smartwatch.

World’s first 8K Camera by Astro Japan https://armdevices.net/2013/10/03/worlds-first-8k-camera-by-astro-japan/ https://armdevices.net/2013/10/03/worlds-first-8k-camera-by-astro-japan/#comments Thu, 03 Oct 2013 10:00:39 +0000 http://138.2.152.197/?p=83712 Unfortunately it costs $300’000. But it sure looks awesome. 8K 60p video recording is only possible with this camera on this planet. Just about Japanese NHK may also have some 8K camera of some kind but they also use Astro’s technology in that. Astro is a Tokyo based advanced video device engineering company. They make the new reference designs that all other TV and Camera companies used to benchmark and test commercial products that are being launched with 4K and 8K support. Astro was also one of the first manufacturers of 4k monitors and 4k cameras. When 8k displays become avaialable Astro will release an 8k monitor. Astro does not make components. Astro uses field-programmable gate array (FPGA) rather than mass produced processors, that is to get the fastest time to market while companies then optimize processes on processors that get used in cheaper mass market products that get sold worldwide.

Brief explanation by Astro of each product featured in the second part of this video:

IGZO allows to refresh the screen as slow as 1Hz, saving drastic amounts of power on the screen refresh. Sharp also shows their new MEMS screen demos, made in collaboration with Qualcomm, perhaps Texas Instruments has been showing similar MEMS solutions like this for something like 10 years though (if implemented in displays yet or not I don’t know).
