Filmed at Filmed at the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) 2013

Some of my best of HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair picks on the official HKTDC channel

Posted by Charbax – October 17, 2013

Check me out on the official HKTDC channel showing some of the coolest devices at the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics fair. Also check back in the many days to come as I'll publish the more than a hundred videos that I filmed at the Hong Kong fair. Some of my picks include the MediaTek Powered Smartwatches, the Spreadtrum Powered E Ink Android phone, the Rockchip RK3188 Powered HDMI Sticks and Tablets. Check back for all my videos to be posted! (I had a problem in the last day and a half, my Intel Powered ultrabook has crashed and burnt a 4th time in the last 18 months I've used it, it doesn't boot up anymore, now I'm borrowing a laptop while I also just gave away my 11-month old Samsung ARM Chromebook last week (bad timing) as I'd like to buy a new one later this month, Exynos5420 Powered Chromebook would have been best but another Exynos5250 Powered HP Chromebook 11 will do if nothing else gets released before).

ZGPAX shows Smart Watch using MediaTek MT6577 dual-core 1Ghz ARM Cortex-A9, 512MB RAM, 4GB ROM, 6hr talk time, Bluetooth support, 1 and a half day battery life in normal use, 1.54" 240x240 LCD screen, features built-in front-facing camera to do video-chats when you look at your wrist watch. Boot time is pretty fast (just a few seconds), supports Android 4.04, Google Play Store (probably a bunch of Smart Watch optimized apps are going to be added to Play Store soon), this is the first time they show this smart watch. ZGPAX also shows a GPS watch that could maybe have saved my father's life, he died 5 months ago alone in his house, maybe of a heart pain. Please industry, build smart watches to monitor heart beat, make system to alert neighbors and ambulance in case of reliably detected heart attack.

Sonostar E Ink Smartwatch prototype

Posted by Charbax – October 5, 2013

Here's the latest Sonostar E Ink smartwatch prototype. The Bluetooth 4.0 data connection and E Ink screen seem to be working, now the main challenge I think is going to be app support, how Android is going to send over which data to the E Ink screen, there needs to be a Wearable Computer protocol for Android, one in which things like app notifications, small versions of apps can automatically be sent over to such a smaller display as this E Ink Bluetooth 4.0 smartwatch.
