Yes….. IBM was first to integrate Hardware Virtualization Features 25yrs ago with PowerPC chips. With that they also brought system wide “Pervasive Multitasking. But our mother’s Virtualization in late 80’s early 90’s is not even comparable to what we see going on here, on a single silicon surface of a 48 core System on Chip (SoC) all in one processor today! lol….. this is more comparable to a mainframe HPC Cluster Super Computer in a single chip. Hardware Virtualization on a 48 core ARM or Intel hardware platform has never been done before! haha…

This is like Watson instead of being super cooled room of it’s own could run on a single rack, single chip all in one single box, less than the size of your PC! …..it’s potential is truly unlimited and it’s performance per watt…… dwarfs anything ever produced! …..this is not so much about hardware, para virtualization, etc as it is about 48 CPU cores as well as GPU’s, etc all running on one chip! …….basically what they are saying is ARM not only beat Intel, but they one up’d them in a very big way on SoC vs a CPU chip!!! 😀 ……no doubt now that the first HPC Cluster Super Computer to break Exaflops barrier will undoubtedly be ARM!!! ;-P

Because the performance per watt…. is order of magnitudes better and on x86 the costs of energy would be prohibitively expensive along with a cooling solution and size constraints. Most likely requiring it’s own dedicated Power Plant to break Exaflops Barrier!!! :DDD FLOPS per Watt have never been even close to what this is capable of producing on ARM vs Intel x86!!!

Samsung actually takes advantage of multiple i/O on the hardware itself. Plus it’s run at kernel level in their own modified Android custom Window Manager (Desktop Environment). Now built on the Touchwiz Enlightenment SDK. Samsung’s Multiwindow features are light years beyond any of their competition, as it is! ;-P ……this being software based only solution, isn’t an ideal competitor to Samsung’s ARM hardware and Powerful Desktop Environment powered Touchwiz UI!

LG’s feature runs on top of Android….. Samsung’s Touchwiz has Android running on top of it. It’s limited to one extra window and although you can call that Muliwindow…. it’s no where near as powerful as Samsung’s solution with many windows capable of running directly on the hardware!!!

Who knows about virtualization anyway? I video-blogged extensively at VM World back in 2008 with one of the world’s top experts in virtualization, and I still have no idea how it works, who does? I kind of know what it is, I use virtual servers for example on Google Cloud Platform, it’s kind of like how Android works to make all apps compatible to every hardware and I understand it’s disruptive and extremely important, and I guess virtualization using ARM Servers is going to be a big deal for the world. Virtualization isn’t even recognized by Google Chrome’s spell checker.
