Actually, the HSDPA part I mentioned was for those MT6589 phones. When those actually support HSDPA 42.2 mbps for why would anyone selling them NOT put in their spec sheet? For a major feature isn’t that a really dumb move for killing buyer interest?

For the entire Chinese electronics market my point still stand though. Misleading or omitting specs etc etc.

Tablet data plans are, almost everywhere, contractless and paid for when needed. No data anywhere suggests that 3G/Mobile data iPads are less than 1% of the mix. Unfortunately Apple don’t release information about the mix but here’s some external estimates or stats from apps:

Appears to be a lot closer to 40-50% than < 1%. How did you do you estimate?

Where do you have your stats from? 3G tablets is a much smaller market than WiFi only tablets. Mainly because consumers are very rarely wanting to pay for another SIM card subscription just for a tablet that they may barely know how to use.

“I think 3G iPads sell 100 times fewer than regular WiFi iPads”

You might think that but it’s not true.

I don’t understand what you mean.. HSDPA in tablets is in very small demand. I think 3G iPads sell 100 times fewer than regular WiFi iPads. I think tablet makers rather want to target the 99% of the tablet market. At least for as long as the 3G modem ads significant cost to the device, usually $30 BOM cost or more, which resellers and brands sometimes charge as a $100 retail price difference or more. And most consumers don’t want to get a SIM card and data subscription just for their tablet.

As a Chinese myself I find that really, really insulting to those people toiling over making these products.
