Check back for more info on armdevices.net in the next couple days about the Android optimizations for E Ink devices like this phone. What I think is that certain UI elements can be re-thought to try to not require full frame refresh to show few things here or there, basically put things next to each other instead of behind and in front of each other, in general have fewer larger buttons to touch maybe. Then some Google Now type of features to display always relevant information on the E Ink screen, since it stays always on, it’s good for it to always show something relevant and useful at any time of the day, yet do it with as few screen refreshes as possible and with as little scrolling required.
]]>if you can have an e ink on the back side of your LCD or AMOLED phone, then people don’t have to choose. That is unused real estate at the moment. And for people who don’t need colors much or video, and don’t think they need to scroll much on web etc (maybe they also transport a 7″ Tablet in the inside of their jacket, then maybe an E Ink only smartphone is a good idea, especially since flexible E Ink seems to be ready now, so you can in theory have a crazy light E Ink phone with little to no bezel of maybe 50-70 grams made now.

]]>But even Amoled displays will be much cheaper in only few years especially now when Amoleds will be made on flexible substrate which make it possible to manufacture some thousand display on each roll in roll-to-roll manufacturing.
]]>I will! If you only use it for email, social networks and, of course, phone calls, this is definetely a huge evolution on smartphones. I would buy it if costs less than 200 €.
