Good observation. The illuminated buttons are a dead giveaway.

 For drawing i use old Motion computing LE1700. It has programing buttons and it is very handy for artist… but new models are so expencive…

I did not know Samsung Galaxy Note had a 10″.  I’ll have to check that out.  Thanks for the tip.  🙂

I currently have a Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet, which has a pressure sensitive N-Trig pen and Sketchbook Pro app.  Unfortunately, the pen is too short, making drawing painful after a while.  It’s hard tip is also noisy, but positionally accurate and responsive.  (Sketchbook pro has some serious shortcomings, too.)

I used to have an Asus EP121, but the pen location accuracy and latency was horrible, especially around the edges of the screen, (neither Asus nor Wacom were of help.)

The IBNote http://www.ibnote.com/ibnote.html (mentioned on this site a
few days ago) does seem to have pressure sensitivity and varying line
width.  But 1024×768 and 512M RAM might be limiting for anything beyond a
napkin sketch. 

I also have an old Toshiba Portege, which has similar issues and high pen response latencies.
Art software for tablets fall short, too.  I can’t turn off touch input, which interferes with pen accuracy, even with a glove.  And then one has to touch the screen to zoom, etc.  The interface works against the flow.  🙁

So, in short, few (if any) devices are designed with the artist in
mind.  Yes, one can sketch something nice, but I’ll be dragging my
laptop and Intuos4 around for a while.  And I’ll be with traditional
pencil and sketchbook for a while.

Samsung Galaxy Note series (5″ and 10″) both uses wacom stylus too, but also have specialized drawing software, so you can see the ability to manage pressure for drawing. They probably only used basic drawing software available on the android market for demonstration.

The best quality of Wacom is the precision and no battery inside pen, else other companies have similar devices too, managing pressure and tilt.

You can write chinese with finger too, the quality of the writing does not care, as the character is converted dynamically, and lot of people use pinyin (pronunciation) on keyboard for typing chinese, that is fastest with actual prediction/learning methods in most cases.

Most of these devices seem more business & handwriting (Chinese) oriented, none seem to have capabilities for serious artists.

A proper Wacom pen demonstration should clearly show pressure sensitive input. All of the drawing in this video is with constant-width lines. Either this isn’t a Wacom pen or they weren’t properly demonstrating the major differentiating feature.
