Looks like Apple did force the issue…

Amoled displays have a contrast ratio that is 1 000 000:1 because black is a switch of pixel, no current is on to the pixel, black in LCD-displays is just a crystal in front of the light source as a shutter.
Amoled-displays will be because of this always much more energy efficient than LCD-displays.

And energy efficiency is crusial in particular handheld battery charged devices.

Here a video,1:28min short, from CES in Los Angeles in January 2011 about a fortcoming 31-inch Amoled-TV-display from LG.

Nobody other than Samsung has released AMOLED in large quantities now. And it still costs Samsung way more to manufacture them. The only reason they can do it is because the Smartphone market is a big profit margin business for now. But that will not last, those smartphones profit margins are quickly going to go away and that will not allow Samsung or anyone else to spend the extra money on the display and the newer LCDs will have good enough quality, if not better quality.

Never. The devices removed from IFA are mostly because small Chinese companies don’t want to pay tens of thousands of Euros to the Mpeg LA mafia for licencing of Mpeg codecs just to show prototypes at a trade show. Apple has no influence on IFA or any other consumer electronics show for that matter.

Only the 4.3″ and 4.5″ max will be released before the end of the year. The 5.3″ Note is likely to remain a relatively small production run to be released not before after the end of the year, but may not even be released at all, that is my guess.

LG,CMEI,AUO,SONY in Amoled displays than we have a lot of others in making Woleds or White oled like Novaled,Osram,GE etc
OLED business forecasts be a $100 billion market forthcoming 10-years.

And this link about Samsung and LG tells that Samsung and LG are investering $17 billion until 2015 just in factoring facilities for making all kinds of sizes of Amoled displays.

We don’t know the reason why the 7.7 was removed, but I don’t think it’s unlikely that is has something to do with Apple. There shall be no pads that are thinner and lighter than an iPad.

Too bad Pixel Qi wasn’t in any devices announced at IFA.
