If they want to win the competition against Apple, they need to have a google hardware brand, on which they will give support and maintain products (to avoid the current Android version mess and lack of support from the manufacturers).
Android is seen as a buy for a year and trash it to get the updated version.
iPhone owners are ready to pay for the update of their phone OS, Android users might too…

2. Make the Go programming language compete with/replace the C language. C is reliable and fast, but old and not optimized for multi-core programming, it needs to get a competitor to improve.

Problem is that there are basically zero 2.3 devices out there, and proximity of honeycomb is probably making the various companies take a wait and see approach.

I think there is lots of room for improvement. Google will try to go into social networking too, but why destroy Twitter or Facebook? Let people have their fun, if they want to.
Android has a great momentum right now. With better and cheaper handsets and tablets it will spread even more widely. I don’t miss Chrome OS and Google TV and i have no use for an “all-in-one” device. My greatest concern is that all these shiny new devices are obsolete in a matter of months, because there is always something newer and better. What to do with the old crap? Send it to poor people? Maybe if this was organized right there would be no need for extremely cheap devices like the OLPC.

How long did 802.11n take? Then there’s 3G, 4G, bluetooth 3.0, bluetooth 4.0, wireless USB, wireless HDMI.
