Google needs hardware partners. Hardware partners need to make profits.

As the price of devices approaches $0 so does the profit.

Prices can get just so low before manufacture lose interest.

Secondly the ad based revenue model will not remain king forever. Small cheap, single focus, appliance like, paid apps with great perceptual ergonomic that are fun and easy to use will control a large portion of the market. As the market matures many people will gravitate to paid apps. Their $1-$2 cost is a small price to pay for an attractive, effective and easy to use interface without all the commercial footprint-tracking noise. Location based-over-tracking is a fad that will die off as consumers develop a more sophisticated algorithm for sorting the wheat from the chaff.

Location base social graph data has much valuable utility but most of that value is now centered around the commercial interests of app vender and/or advertiser. In many cases even the business doing the advertising is getting screwed or at least squeezed a little too hard. Market forces dictate that the application value equation inevitably evolves to become more user centered. This means that if you pay a very small price for the app the developer is working up an algorithm that is centers around your needs instead of all those TOM, Dick and Harry commercial interest that want a peace of you. Yes, it may take some time for consumers to feel the discomfort gradient that come with a PHONY-FREE price tag but in short order consumers will rediscover the truth in the old adage “he who pays the piper calls the tune” and at just $1-$2 them tunes will sound pretty good.

Why you treat as idiots people that think different. I know a lot of people that use their laptops only to browse the web and check Facebook, they are not idiots, some of them are really smart people with more than one degree. You have to be more careful the way you treat other if you don’t want them to consider you a moron.

I can use a slice of bread as toilet and offer it at much lower prices than popular restaurants, but it’s probably not going to be good for whoever consumers it. That is ChromeOS.

People who use this are idiots who are looking to pay service fess to other people for things that they already have and can do themselves. I don’t mind retaining my own local copies of data and software without paying an ISP. I understand that you’re just trying to be your useful emotionally active intellectually barren self angling for review units and other Google freebies, but you might want to think about the downsides of what you’re promoting. After all, who wouldn’t like to spend a little extra time in bed watching TV, but what if it comes with the down-side of dying from cancer. Learn to think, then try to write again.
