In reply to aftermath. The problem lies 100% with the IP Core designer. We suffer the same problem with ARM Mali, Qualcomm's stuff, and on desktop Linux with Nvidia and ATi (mostly.) So the problem isn't TIs, and they actually put up a good effort to make sure that Linux developers have at least a somewhat easier time getting libraries that work for them.

Last I heard http://138.2.152.197/2010/02/15/flash-support-and-unreal-tournament-on-nvidia-tegra-2/ the Tegra 2 development board was about $400 while the ARM Cortex A8 based http://BeagleBoard.org seems to be $149 and TI says that tens of thousand of developers are using it. I don't know how much PandaBoard is going to be sold for.

PowerVR graphics on-board, right?

It's getting harder and harder to take seriously these hardware platforms that:
* boast about graphics prowess
* seem targeted at open source operating systems
* don't offer open source drivers for the target platform

I know this is not a trivial situation, and there aren't many impressive options. However, the release of such an embedded GPU would be exciting. For the same reason, the release of this isn't.
