yes !
Capactive requiers more wires for bigger screens and also more complex microcontrollers ..
see here dell streak's touch http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Dell-Streak-Teardown/3512/2

the ipad's touch chip is here http://s1.guide-images.ifixit.com/igi/V6QetUKjFdDsDYga it's a broadcomm the connector for the touch wires it's HUGE 😀

For <4″ capactive is cheap

Cool, I guess capacitive especially for smart phones has gone down in price fast as they are produced by the hundreds of millions already. I guess it also probably depends which size capacitive you want. 3.5″ might be much cheaper than 4.3″ and 7″ and 10.1″ might be cheaper than 4.8″ or 5″ still.

i am pretty sure about screen .. see this http://android-france.fr/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/orange-jal-android-france-01.jpg

to see how AMOLED vs Super AMOLED compares see this http://www.mobile-review.com/review/samsung-wave-s8500-en.shtml

Samsung Wave S8500 has the same tech as Galaxy S i9000 family..it's the best screen i've seen ever on a mobile phone..and.. iphone 4 SuperLCD is also great..
i did'nt had both ip4 and i9000 to compare but.. iphone has the Hitachi IPS tech witch makes look as good as any OLED..

concerning the price i think they will do it for £99 simply because Capacitive Touch is becoming very simple.. like you need a glass and incorporate a very fine wire grid..that's driven by a microcrontroller .. so.. that's cheap..Rezistive touch.. it's dump because u need a glass substrate (for support) and 2 special rezistive polimers (one for X rezist and one for Y rezist) so it's more ..plus the fiability is less on Rezistive touch..i've seen many iphone's with glass broken and the touch was working perfect…as for rezistive touch..even a bit of watter will break the bond between the 2 polymers..

Interesting! So it's the same ARM11 processor as on the 7″ Foxconn Android tablet I filmed http://138.2.152.197/2010/06/04/foxconn-7-capacitive-android-tablet/ and http://138.2.152.197/2010/09/03/viewsonic-viewpad-7/

Nice to see Qualcomm is doing 45nm also..

Are you sure it has 3.5″ Capacitive WVGA AMOLED screen? That would be pretty amazing at this price.

The Sony-Ericsson X10 mini+x10mini pro+x8 shakira are based on the same Qualcomm SOC.. witch is very good. see here more phones with same SOC http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdamaster&posted=1&cpu=a7227

the Amd z430 GPU in this SOC is very capable of pushing so many pixels.. the GPU is the same as Google's old Nexus and HD Desire and so on ..who use QSD8250 SOC.

Best of all i think the MSM7227 is made with 45nm tech..maybe..
Plus because this MSM7227 it's made with 45nm tech it has good performance/power consumption ratio.

Thanks, I've updated the post with your eurodroid link. I say I guess it might have Rockchip RK2818 because I saw a phone that might have looked like this at the Rockchip booth at IFA, which also had a 3.5″ WVGA resistive screen and a Bill Of Material of 600rmb or around 90€.

What I couldn't find is the chip powering ZTE Blade.
