If an ebook reader device can boot in 1 second, it make no sense suspending. An ereader my not be used for days on occasion. A complete poweroff keeps the battery untouched in these periods.

It may be running on an A4 processor, but it's still an ARM chip. It's really just an Apple branded ARM Cortex A8 with a GPU integrated onto it.
