It doesn't have a large battery pack, probably around a 4 cell. The solar panels are not integrated and are therefore irrelevant to the size of the machine, not to mention a solar panel can be made to charge ANY laptop. Fingerprint scanner requires virtually nothing in added bulk. Two smart card slots are the only reason I see for ANY added bulk over your average slimmed down machine, and even that requires only very minimal additional space.

The device could be created at half its current size or less with the same specs, and with a 10-12″ screen. I hope for their sake that this is just some bulky prototype exhibiting its features, and not representing its final design. The added bulk is of no benefit, regardless of the targeted market for the device.
