Neonode touch for automotive, underwater and side of smartphones

Neonode demonstrates some of their upcoming touch technologies implemented in the car steering wheel for head-up display user interfacing, for touch screens underwater and for expanding the touch user interface to each side of a smartphone. Neonode is used in millions of touch-screen e-readers such as the 2011 Kindle Touch, the 2013 One Laptop Per Child XO-4 Laptop/Tablet hybrid.

Silicon Image WiHD 60Ghz RF for wireless HD 4Gbitps full HD 60fps (up to 4K)

Silicon Image showcases the WiHD standard for Wireless HD, full 4Gbitps bandwidth over the 60Ghz unlicensed spectrum. The WiHD consortium consists of Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, TP Vision and Silicon image and it is an older more established alternative to Intel/Microsoft's WiGig system which also functions on the same 60Ghz spectrum. Silicon Image here showcases their UltraGig 6400 sub-500mW WiHD processor which they have here installed in some modified Samsung Galaxy S3 and Kindle Fire HD to showcase how such devices can have built-in WiHD support to wirelessly stream the full HD 60fps full bitrate HD signal to a HDTV wirelessly.

Pansonic is showing off their 4K Camcorder prototype, displaying real-time 4K 30fps video to their 20.4" prototype 4K IPS alpha LCD display, they are also showing playback of recorded 4K video to their 47" 4K prototype IPS alpha LCD display.

Panasonic 56″ 4K OLED display

Panasonic shows their OLED Printing technology for the first time at CES 2013. They claim this can allow for affordable mass manufacturing of OLED displays at any size and at any resolution. Panasonic claims that the yield is high for this new OLED manufacturing process, so they claim this is going to allow them to mass manufacture 4K OLED displays. But they cannot yet confirm if mass market availability of this 4K OLED screen can happen in 2014 or 2015, this is something that they are still discussing internally.

Stream TV Networks Utra-D 2160p upscaling and glasses-free 3D auto-generation

StreamTV has a 4-layer optical stack on the 4K LCD that uses defractive and refractive technologies, some of it working like a lenticular, some of it working as a hologram, together they are creating a continuous light field that gives one large field of view, rather than descreet viewing angles like with the barrier glasses free technology. StreamTV automatically detects 3D space in live video to generate 3D out of 2D content, and they use their own upscaling technology to upsale 1080p content to 2160p. At CES 2013, they announce that there is a 60" 2160p display that is going to be launched including their technology.

Samsung is releasing their first 4K TVs, 4K is going to be a big push for Samsung in 2013, starting with the 85" 4K TV to be released in Spring. No price announced yet.

Samsung 8000 Series LED LCD HDTV

Samsung introduces their new 8000 series 1080p LCD HDTVs at CES 2013. Those feature a Samsung quad-core processor, possibly a quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 (the Samsung representatives at the booth were not able to confirm it).
