Rockchip Smart Glass RK3168 POP PCB Design by ChipSiP

Posted by – January 20, 2014

Chipsip Technology at the Rockchip booth at CES 2014 presents their PCB Design using the ultra low power dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 Rockchip RK3168 SoC using POP Memory in a form factor that can fit in a Google Glass type of device, Rockchip powered. This means SoC, RAM and Flash all occupy the same space as the SoC alone, the rest of the PCB being for a few more things like Bluetooth/WiFi, sensors, power management and a few more. This design thus can fit in a headmounted Android computer configuration, display the Android UI in the heads-up display, here using the the same HIMIX display that Google uses in Google Glass. Taiwan based ChipSiP Technology is a PCB Design house who designs Rockchip based PCBs and products, they are also working to integrate the Rockchip RK3188 in this type of Google Glass like form factor. The price of end-units all depends on the volume of mass production, it would be expensive if volume remains low, but the price can come down to much lower if these designs are quickly mass produced.

CHUWI V99X 9.7″ Retina RK3188, optional Huawei 3G module, ultra-thin

Posted by – October 20, 2013

CHUWI shows their new V99X ultra-thin 7.8mm 9500mAh 9.7″ Retina with an empty 3G module by Huawei slot, so you can turn your Wi-Fi only tablet into a 3G and even next year into a 4G LTE tablet by simply adding the networking module that you would like to add into that slot. Maybe a White Spaces 700Mhz module can be possible also. The perfect optional cellular expansion system for the Rockchip RK3188 in my opinion, and this CHUWI V99X Retina 9.7″ RK3188 tablet looks really good!

Some of my best of HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair picks on the official HKTDC channel

Check me out on the official HKTDC channel showing some of the coolest devices at the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics fair. Also check back in the many days to come as I’ll publish the more than a hundred videos that I filmed at the Hong Kong fair. Some of my picks include the MediaTek Powered Smartwatches, the Spreadtrum Powered E Ink Android phone, the Rockchip RK3188 Powered HDMI Sticks and Tablets. Check back for all my videos to be posted! (I had a problem in the last day and a half, my Intel Powered ultrabook has crashed and burnt a 4th time in the last 18 months I’ve used it, it doesn’t boot up anymore, now I’m borrowing a laptop while I also just gave away my 11-month old Samsung ARM Chromebook last week (bad timing) as I’d like to buy a new one later this month, Exynos5420 Powered Chromebook would have been best but another Exynos5250 Powered HP Chromebook 11 will do if nothing else gets released before).
