Here’s a look at the Honeycomb powered Asus Slider to be released in June. Asus says their Eee Pad Transformer is popular, is this one going to be as popular? Are they going to price this one as much as the Transformer plus the keyboard add-on?

Trim-Slice, compact Tegra2 Desktop, now released for $199

Here’s a powerful super compact Nvidia Tegra2 ARM Cortex-A9 Dual-core 1Ghz based Desktop box, for now seems to run something like Ubuntu 11.4 (ARM netbook edition?), but the software support is a process that is a work-in-progress. Their pricing starts at $199 for the basic model, I will try to get a review unit, what do you think about this type of compact ARM Powered desktop?
Haifa, Israel – 30-Apr-2011 – CompuLab is announcing immediate availability of the NVIDIA Tegra 2 based Trim-Slice miniature computer.
Trim-Slice is offered in 3 configurations –
Trim-Slice Barebone – with 1 GHz Tegra 2, 1 GB RAM, HDMI port, Gigabit Ethernet, 4 USB ports, 2 SD slots and RS232 serial port. Trim-Slice Barebone MSRP is $199.
Trim-Slice Value – adds a 4 GB micro-SD card with Linux pre-installed and a USB 802.11n WiFi adapter. Trim-Slice Value MSRP is $219.
Trim-Slice Pro – with 1 GHz Tegra 2, 1 GB RAM, 32 GB SSD with Linux pre-installed, HDMI and DVI ports, Gigabit Ethernet, built-in 802.11n WiFi, 4 USB ports, 2 SD slots, RS232 serial port and a USB Bluetooth adapter. Trim-Slice Pro MSRP is $319.
OEMs and system-integrators can order Trim-Slice in volume with customization of feature set, branding and case finish.
Trim-Slice currently runs Linux and is supported in the mainline kernel revision 2.6.39. Support for other operating-systems is work-in-progress. “We design Trim-Slice with SW developers in mind” said Irad Stavi, Director of Business Development at CompuLab. “Developers that are looking for an open cost-effective high-performance ARM platform are likely to find Trim-Slice an attractive and unique solution that is very convenient for SW development.”

Malata announces new ARM Powered Laptops at HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair. They are not ready to show working prototypes of them yet. There is a 10″ similar to Toshiba AC-100, but also a 13.3″ ARM Powered Laptop! In my opinion, it’s important software for ARM Powered Laptops gets ready also for these products to be commercially viable. Honeycomb might do the trick, with slight Laptop-oriented optimizations and its awesome new large screen optimized multi-tab web browser, but Chrome OS for ARM may be even better for this type of product.
Trim Slice Tegra2 ARM Cortex-A9 Dual-core Desktop!

Compulab is showing this Tegra2 desktop for the first time at a trade show, it’s a full ARM Powered desktop computer based on the Nvidia Tegra2 processor. Has 2 HDMI outputs, one for full HDMI video, one for a secondary display, Gigabit Ethernet, 4 USB hosts, stereo audio output, audio in, SPDIF output, 12V power connector, connector for wireless antenna for WiFi and Bluetooth, SD slot, RF232 Serial Port, Micro-USB slave. They also have a slightly bigger version that can slot in a 2.5″ Sata hard drive. 1GB RAM, it also has an internal Micro-SD slot to store the OS. So if you want to upgrade or change the OS, just change the MicroSD card and reboot. It also ships with 32GB Flash storage. They are launching this with Ubuntu 10.10 and they will add support for Honeycomb by launch. Availability is June, the price is targeted at below $200 in bulk (can be re-branded as ODM) and to be about $250 at retail. MSI WindPad 100A Tegra2 10.1″ Android Tablet

MSI Is finally about to get ready with their MSI Wind Pad tablet, here they are showing a pretty finalized looking version of their upcoming Tegra2 tablet, to have Honeycomb, it will be sold at retail for about $399. They also showcase some interesting designs using a picto projector, dual-tablets and a frame.

Pierre Cardin Tegra2 9.7″ Android Tablet
Pierre Cardin brings a new 9.7″ capacitive Nvidia Tegra2 based tablet to the market. Bulk price may be something like $340. They also have a cool priced $145 7″ capacitive Samsung Hummingbird ARM Cortex-A8 based tablet. They say Android Honeycomb 3.0 will be available on these from the beginning of April.
ARM Powered Tablets by Shuttle (soon laptops/desktops?)

Shuttle is one of the major compact motherboard makers, they are now moving a lot of their ressources into making ARM Powered solutions, some may be branded by Shuttle, other might be ODM, based on ARM Processors by Texas Instruments, Nvidia and VIA Wondermedia.

This is a 10.1″ 1280×800 capacitive new Tegra2 tablet made by Gigabyte. This is not a final design, they’ll tweak and improve the design before mass production to be selling this by July this year around there.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer is worlds first Honeycomb laptop, it looks fantastic. Honeycomb is awesome on laptops! This proves it! The Honeycomb web browser is fast! While the Asus Transformer combo might feel a bit heavy, that’s also because the keyboard dock includes a full battery, doubling the battery runtime of this Honeycomb laptop to 16 hours of use!
Android Native Code SDK for advanced Game Development

HyperDevBox is a development company based in Tokyo Japan, developing games exclusively for Android. They are presenting Spectral Souls for Android, the first tactical RPG game for Android and explaining how the Android Native SDK is being used to run native C or C++ code, there is no Java code at all in the game.

Asus Transformer, Honeycomb Tegra2 Laptop/Tablet device
Asus made this Tegra2 Powered Laptop and Tablet combo device, where the tablet part can slide out of the bottom keyboard part. This prototype feels heavy though, perhaps it’s just because it’s a very metallic design.

Nvidia shows project Kal-el Quad-core ARM Cortex-A9

Nvidia Kal-el is now sampling, demonstrated here at Mobile World Congress 2011, to be in commercial products already in August this year. Nvidia goes on showing the first Quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 sample, getting those samples to their partners and planning for commercial launch by August this year already. This is impressive stuff, web browsing speed is doubled.

LG Optimus Pad

The new tablet from LG, Honeycomb on Tegra2 powered, comes with LG´s built-in 3D camera, to allow consumers to make more 3D contents for their 3D HDTVs. It uses a 8.9″ capacitive touch screen, hdmi output, no usb host.
Malata releases new Tegra2 Tablets

Their designs are used by ViewSonic, Interpad, HiSense and others. Now they use a better screen with 1280×800 resolution and wider viewing angles. They are also making a version with a new 9.7″ 4:3 aspect ratio.

Honeycomb is simply awesome. It’s the first OS ever made really designed for tablets. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 runs on the Nvidia Tegra2 processor and has a really cool new design.
