Rob Chandhok, Senior Vice President of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies talks about the latest ARM Powered software advances

Qualcomm is doing huge work optimizing Linux and Windows on their S3 and S4 processors, trying to get as much performance out of the hardware as possible. Rob Chandhok is in charge of software at Qualcomm and in this video he talks about some of the software challenges that Qualcomm is working on to optimize software on their processors.

    wtf, he ends by saying that ARM is as powerful, then contradicts that by saying he doesn’t have the luxury of making a chip as powerful as possible and not caring about energy usage, ie like Intel chips for the desktop. You should have followed up by asking, “Given that Windows was built to work on those Intel chips that didn’t care about energy usage, what kind of changes have they had to make to deal with chips that are optimized for energy usage now?” That way, he could also be talking about Atom and you don’t have to deal with his contradictory nonsense about ARM anymore.
