The cheap price ($99 for unlocked 3G 7" capacitive MSM7227 tablet) is the main reason for me posting this news item. I get all the Google News email alerts on Archos cause I'm an Archos fanboy (since 2001) and I run the biggest Archos website http://archosfans.com with the http://forum.archosfans.com but I don't get paid from them, I only do make some on advertising and affiliate links when people buy those. I don't think I make a refferal on the carphonewharehouse link though, carphonewharehouse it seems only pays 1% for affiliates on no-contract tablet sales, it's too bothersome for me to set it up.

With all the Android tablets upgrading to ICS, I'd say within 2-3 months there'll be over 25 million ICS tablets on the market. Basically all Honeycomb tablets upgrade to ICS and most Gingerbread tablets upgrade to ICS also.

It just seems like an ad or what are sometimes called sponsored posts on other blogs: a spec sheet for a product accompanied by a link to where you can buy it. I have no problem with your making money that way, for the record, but it helps inculcate trust in your readers if you say so when it happens.

I'm not challenging your claim that this tablet is the cheapest, I noted that it seems like a great value. :) It would be even better if it gets ICS someday, hope that is in fact possible. It is interesting how Honeycomb and ICS have almost no market share while Android 2 dominates among Android installs to this day, will be watching to see what kind of dent ICS makes.

The Honeycomb restrictions were not so much hardware as simply Google only wanting to work with very few manufacturers back then, this has totally changed with ICS though, now ICS is open source anyone can use it.

Why would I take money for this post? My claim is this is the cheapest 3G-enabled 7" capacitive tablet by far, if you've seen as cheap 3G-enabled capacitive tablets let me know and I'll edit that phrase.

Honeycomb had only few partners working on it. ICS is open source and most ARM Processors will support it, I believe even the ARM11 based Qualcomm MSM7227 will support ICS simply because there are over 100 smartphones and tablets on the market using MSM7227, it might be one of the most used ARM Processor for Android devices on the market. I also know the Arnova on Rockchip Rk2918 will get ICS, I've seen great ICS on Telechips ARM cortex-A8, on single-core AmLogic ARM Cortex-A9, I'm not sure though if Rockchip will do the effort to make ICS work even on their older RK2818 and RK2808 ARM9, my guess not, too much work and too few devices still needing support there. Telechips likely not either on their ARM11 solutions but I think Qualcomm MSM7227 ARM11 is the most likely.

Hmm, apparently Google sets minimum hardware requirements for Honeycomb, both of which this tablet doesn't pass. Too bad, but it'll be interesting to see if an ICS upgrade is feasible.

Hmm, looking at that pic, I thought it was a phone. Is this post an ad? I don't mind if you're taking money for posts, as you have to pay for this blog somehow, but it's customary to clearly label paid posts as such. Getting back to the tablet, seems like a very compelling value at that price, but I wonder why it's still running Android 2 and not Honeycomb at least.

No way! The Rockchip solutions that Archos has been using for 2 years now are the cheapest and best low cost value ARM9 and now ARM Cortex-A8 performing tablet solutions on the market.

No way, Archos has had the worldwide exclusive access to newest TI processors for over 10 years now. But Archos will use Qualcomm when it makes sense for lower cost Arnova skews like this one.

I think it is only a matter of Time when Archos' Higher end products are also Qualcomm based. Archos Wants higher profit margins. qualcomm enables this.
