The Marvell cpus are very expensive at this point. The 4-core processor costs thousands of dollars. The tri-core processor is still in developing stage, and it’s propably not going to be cheap either (at first). I have been dreaming about the tri-core processor for a while, but that time is wasted. You should buy something else. I think that the Nufront newton laptops/tablets/desktops should be out very soon (they promised Q2).

I Really seen an advantage in using ARM SoC’s for mobile solutions such as netbooks and tablets… but for Desktops and at this price range? Unless we see a reasonable dron in price it’s not going to be competitive.

Even if this mini-Desktop is over priced it will forthcoming years be very interesting alternative as very compact Desktop computer.

Just think, 2 years ahead, when Texas Instruments,Nvidia,Samsung,TSMC
and some more coming to make ARM Cortex A-15 IP processors
with at least 2GHz and 4 cores processors.

Trim-Slice compact Desktop computer with ARM Cortex A-15 processors will be something extra
in capabillities.

I want one, but while I want the one with the 2.5″ drive bay, I’m not willing to go $329 for it. Added to that, I don’t know what their stock looks like, but as soon as I attempted to buy one I learned that the $199 and $219 models are sold out. I’d say that’s a better response than expected, and it reminds me of when the PandaBoard (OMAP4) came out and was backordered for months. I’d like more products of this caliber to come out.

However, this does have GeForce so perhaps this is why the cost is a bit higher? A fully ARMed Nvidia PC.

I must agree with the commentors in that this is over-priced. The efika mx runs at 800MHz and has roughly the same features for $129 but then it does not run an A9 like this device. It’s nice though and it runs Gnu/Linux so best of luck for these folks.

I agree, $99 would be an OK price for the low-end version. $199 is a bit too expensive for what you get.

This is my preferred format for chrome OS, because I do not need a laptop as I use my 4.3″ smartphone instead. Would be nice if I could swap out the motherboard, because the ARM processors evolve so quickly. I would think that when these devices are past the early buyer stage, and their is lots of demand and production, that they could get the cost down to about $99. At the current price I can make a much more powerful Linux computer for my needs.
