Telechips ARM11 based 5″ Android tablet with HDMI output and up to 1080p video playback support (bitrate/codecs limitations to be confirmed).

    5 inch size seems a bit useless for me. It's not like a tablet, it's sooner like a PDA. And the design seems very much alike the Galaxy Tab from Samsung.

    The Telechips TCC89XX used in this device (same as SmartQ V5 and V7) can support the following:

    Decompressor (Decoder) – up to 30fps @ Full-HD (1920×1080)
    -H.263: up to 40Mbps
    -MPEG 1/2
    * Up to Main Profile @ High Level
    * Max. bitrate : up to 40Mbps
    - MPEG4-ASP
    * Up to Advanced Simple Profile Including DivX3.x
    * Max. bitrate : up to 35Mbps
    - MPEG4-AVC(H.264)
    * Up to High Profile @ Level 5.1(Note 3)
    * Max. bitrate : up to 25Mbps
    - VC-1
    * Up to Advanced Profile @ Level 3.0
    * Max. bitrate : up to 30Mbps
    - RV
    * Real Video 10 ( Backward Compatible for RV8.9)
    * Max. bitrate : up to 30Mbps
    - JPEG : up to 12Mpixels

    There are plenty of SmartQ V5 and V7 owners out there that can attest to it playing 1080p MKV files.

    Wow, that beats the Archos devices hands down.

    I have seen laggy 1080p on telechips. Low profile h2 isnot64 the same as high prfile h264 in mkv with high bitrate dts audio and subtitles.

    I've seen high profile h.264 720p at 10 Mbps MKV videos with high bit rate DTS or AC3 audio on the SmartQ devices. Much better video playback capabilities than the Archos devices.

    It can handle up to 32 reference frames for high profile 1080p at 25Mbps. The only thing lacking is the the main processor but for people who only want video playback. These Telechips based devices are better than what Archos offers.

    I have seen Telechips do non-smooth playback of certain 1080p video files. Non-smooth playback is not watchable. So really, it would be nice to know exactly what limitations in terms of high profile high bitrate video playback Telechips devices have.
